  • Joker113 May 24, 2008

i may be able to. i dunno if the other system even has enough power supply for it tho.

  • Joker113 May 24, 2008

and how would i send it in for warranty repairs? i tried to call the company but its not they're business hours.

  • Joker113 May 24, 2008

and im sorry.. im not to much of a computer wiz i thought just swapping the cards and installing the new drivers would be fine : (

  • Joker113 May 24, 2008

well ill post in a few minutes if it works on the other computer.. thanks for the help so far!

  • Joker113 May 24, 2008

ok well nvm i cant check it on the other computer cause im restricted cause the "owners" of that computer say its to old and even if it doesn't work on that computer doesn't mean its the video card it could also be they're motherboard

  • Joker113 May 24, 2008

if i take it back to bestbuy could i just exchange it for another one and hope the new one works?

  • Joker113 May 24, 2008

ok i tried it on the other computer and it doesn't even have a PCI express slot. so it wont fit on that motherboard. lol

  • Joker113 May 24, 2008

my computer is a PCI-E model motherboard its a Dell XPS 400 with 3 gigs of ram 120Gig HD and a pentium D duel core processor 2.8 GhZ

  • Joker113 May 24, 2008

  • Joker113 May 24, 2008

The card may be faulty. I have a 8600 GT over there on the bookcase, it has the same problem, going to send it to warranty repairs. I'd suggest you return the card / have it checked in another pc.

Can you try it in another pc before takeing it back?

  • Ekse May 24, 2008

the 8600 gt doesn't take much power. as it doesn't even have a extra power connector? Most of them don't.

  • Ekse May 24, 2008

Yeah, that should be it. Just plug it in and it should work. So there must be something wrong with the card. Unless it works on another motherboard / pc.

  • Ekse May 24, 2008

I suppose you can do that.

Can you give me some details about your pc and the motherboard? brand name model etc? I'l check if the card is supposed to work on your pc.

By the way is this a PCI-E model?

  • Ekse May 24, 2008

I got 8600 Gt on my pc and it works great same windows.

The card should work on your pc. I don't know why it isn't

Its either faulty (the card) or something else. But it should work on your pc.

  • Ekse May 24, 2008

actually I had two 8600GT cards in SLI but the other one just stoped working. I'm sending it to my dealer. So thats pretty much the same as you takeing yours back to bestbuy.

Some cards can send 2 outputs that is split by the cable, which is connected to 2 monitors. Generally speaking though, most just split the image up

Setting up dual monitors with NVIDIA 7300 GS Graphics Adapter

so...
your computer don't recognize your nvidia graphic card in PCI Express slot.
you are runing now with computer's integrated graphic card?
if so then you won't have dualview option. in this case it looks for me like you've installed in the wrong way your graphic card.

your NV GeForce 7300 GS has 2 video output?
if yes then you should have the option for 2 monitors on nVIDIA control panel (i have check my nVIDIA GeForce 7600gt and in my case this option is present but is enabled only if i connect the second monitor, so try do so)

you have installed the latest nVIDIA drivers from the official website? http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

check if your video card is corect installed start/run type in " devmgmt.msc ". it will open device manager and under the display adapter tab you should see what video card you use now.

Shader 3 compatibility?

Hey,

If you look at this page you can see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_shader#Hardware_Compatability

PS version (pixel shader version supported / compatible)
so that would be for shader 3 requirement

Ati Radeon x1300 to x1950 cards support it Also!
Nvidia Geforce 6 and newer.

The Radeon hd 3xxx and newer support version 4 (everything 1 2 3 4)

well you can see on the list.

If you want a cheap card with just shader 3 support

get ati radeon x1900 or better
or Nvidia 8 series, nvidia 8600 GT for example.

Do you need a place to buy them from?

in the USA - http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category.aspx?Category=38&name=Video-Cards-Video-Devices

for example, this one is cheap
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814140104

But it requires a PCI-E slot on the computer. Looking at your computer you have a agp slot, I think its time to buy a new computer for the newer games.

Trying to upgrade video graphics card to use 2 monitors

jew14

In regards to what video card to get most of your current computers have a PCIE x16 slot for the video card. You may want to check this link. There is a picture of what the card should look like.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express

So if you have a PCIE x16 slot you should beable to put a Geforce 8 series card in the system fine. However if you are not sure I would call Dell to confirm the specs on the system.

Also you will need to pay attention the power specs on the card that you get. Because it may need more power then the current powersupply in the system has currently to spare. If you under power there system you can damage components. In regards to a computer powersupply there is never a worry on going to high on the wattage. I want to stress this part because I have seen a lot of systems come to me where the user had upgraded a part without taken in minde if they would need more power. The end result is damaging alot of the system.

In regards to the memory size the thing to keep in mind is that if you are running 2 monitors there memory is split between them. So if you have a card with 512 of memory then each monitor will get 256 of the memory. So with that in mind I would go no less than 512. The reason is most of your graphic programs recommend this. Also if you have Vista or are thinking about getting it this is also the recommended video memory for Vista as well.

Hope this answers your questions.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions.
