Simple Answer is just to know two formulas

Ohm's Law
V = IR

Power
P = IV

From those you can calculate voltage, amps, watts, ohms

V = Voltage (volts)
I = Current (amps or amperes)
R = Resistance (ohm's)
P = Power (watts)

Just solve for what you are missing.

Voltage times amps being drawn shows watts produced.
Watts divided by voltage shows amps being drawn or watts
divided by amperage shows voltage applied.

Does it have an amp rating on the unit? I'll go look for the manual but if I can't find it, give me that voltage and amp rating and i'll tell you the watts.

• Mike Butler Oct 23, 2010

Manufacturer recommends 20 amp circuit at 120Volts.

### Capabilities of the Robin 2400is generator

no
ac units are 2000 watts minimum, washing machines are 1500 watts minimum, microwave is what is on the plate and start at 650 watts but most are 2000 watts
the 2400 is the peak out put for start up of fridge , washer etc and the running wattage will be 2000 watts or less ( duty cycle )
to run more than one of the nominated items at once you will be needing a 5500 to-6500 watts unit
they handle a start up surge of 6500 watts ( larger one) and will comfortably handle 5500 watts run full load
it works like this , the plate on the gen set is the surge short time load capacity of the genset and not the duty load which is 500 to 750 watts less than that plate wattage
for example your 2400 is is surge rated at 2400 watts but duty load is less than the 2000 watts
many people make the mistake of buying a gen set that looks big enough but do not calculate the maximum load capable on being put on the gen set
fully loaded uses more fuel /hr
wears out faster
has power surges as the extra load cuts in and the motor struggles to get back to required rpms for voltage and cycles
will not cover extras like lights ,
a much large gen set will take it all in it's stride , no power surges, better economy, less stress
talk with an electrician , do your maths on everything you wish to run and that which you forgot about then add 1000 watts to the duty cycle and that will be close to the gen set you require

### I need to know the wattege of a kenwood kac -624

The KAC-624 is a 40 watt x2 @ 4 ohm RMS amp. 55 watt x2 @ 2ohm. 110 watt x 1 Bridged I assume at 4 ohm. Manual does not specify. It can run 2 ohm in stereo mode but is unclear on mono impedance requirement. It can run 4 ohm mono at 110 watt but at 2 ohm?

There are isues with HP external power supplies - if it is a dv7-3xxx series you require AC Smart adapter (120 watt) - 100-240VAC input, 50-60Hz, 2.5A - 18.5VDC output, 6.5A, Pt No 463953-001

for earlier models require AC Smart power adapter (90 watt) - 100-240VAC input, 47-63Hz - 19.0VDC output, 4.74A, 90 watts, with power factor correction (PFC) 463955-001
If you are within the warranty period utilize that warranty if not contact HP and see what price a replacement external power pack is.

### Trying to find out what the wattage for this oven is model # MAB845SV

At the bottom of page 3 of manual (link provided below) in the "Technical Specifications" section, indicates it has 800 watts of cooking power. The 1200 watt rating is the total electrical load on the circuit that is required to run fans, lights, etc. in addition to the 800 watts for cooking.

### Fans run at full speed under normal task.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE CPU AND MB AND PSU IS NOT COOLING OFF ENOUGH AND CAUSING THE FAN TO RUN ON HIGH ALL THE TIME, THE PSU MAY NOT HAVE ENOUGH WATTS POWER TO RUN THE CONFIGURATION TO KEEP THE SYSTEM AND HARDWARE TO COOL.

I READ IT IN ONE OF MY PC MAGAZINE, ANOTHER PERSON UPRADED SYSTEM, ADDED SOME OTHER STUFF BUT THE MB AND POWER SUPPLY UNIT DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH WATTS TO SUPPORT BASIC REQUIREMENTS OPERATING THE SYSTEM BASIC NEEDS.
FIND SOFTWARE THAT KEEPS EYE ON HEAT ISSUES, MB, VIDEO CARD, RAM, PS, CPU, CPU COOLERS, NIC CARDS, SOUND CARDS,
ETC.
EACH PART REQUIRES SO MUCH POWER
AND HERE HOW IT BRAKE DOWN FOR EACH COMPONET

MB 20-35+ WATTS
CD ROM 20-25 WATTS
DVD 30-45 WATTS
DISK DRIVE 5 WATTS
HD 5-15 WATTS
STANDARD VIDEO VARD 5-15 WATTS
MEMORY 5 WATTS PER MB

NEW SYSTEMS WITH THE FOLLOWING STUFF IN IT FLOPPY DRIVE,CD-ROM, MB, 16MB RAM, REQUIRES A MIN. 150 WATTS OF POWER.

BUT I KNOW YOU MAY HAVE TOP OF THE LINE VIDEO CARD WITH GGR4 WITH 512MB
MEMORY, 2-8 GIG OF RAM, 23 INCH LCD MONITOR, 2 500GB HD, BLUETOOTH AND WIRELESS NETORK, AND WIFI CAPABILITIES,
NEW DUAL CORE CPU TOP LINE MOTHERBOARD, COOLED VIDEO CARD,RAM COOLER ALSO AND THIS SYSTEM POWER WATTAGE REQUIREMENTS MAYBE SOME WHERE AROUND 400-600 WATT, AND MOST OF THAT IS FOR THE SYSTEM RAM AND THE VIDEO RAM YOU ARE RUNNING
REMEMBER 5 WATTS PER 1 MEGABYTE OF
RAM
IT WILL ADD UP FAST BOY'S AND GAL'S

ROD

PS I HOPE I DIDNT BORE ANYONE,
IT MAY SAVE YOUR SYSTEM FROM BURNING UP.

### Maytag model MDE7057AYW 5600 Watts dryer runs ,but

5600 watts will not operate off 120 volts.
This is a 220/240 volt hookup.
There are 2 legs of 120 volts each that operate the dryer.
The only part requiring 220v is the heater.
Otherwise 120v routes through the various controls and relays.

### The power is out because of Hurricane Gustav. I have a 6500 watt portable generator and would like to use our clothes dryer which has a 220 volt requirement. Is that possible, and is there a special...

Dryers require a 40A circuit breaker to handle the current. According to Ohms Law: Watts = Volts * Amps. Therefore, you require a power capacity of 220V * 40A in order to safely run the dryer, which is 8800 Watts. This means your generator does not have enough capacity to run the dryer. If we consider the full power of your generator at 6500 Watts, this only allows for 29.5A, which is not enough to run your dryer.

If it WAS possible, you would need to ensure that you ran a 30A heavy extension cord with the correct 220V plugs and receptacles on the end. This would require at least 10gauge 3-conductor wire, which is quite expensive.

However, that point is moot, since your generator does not have the capacity to run your dryer. You could try it, but I rather suspect that the dryer will trip the 30A breaker on the genset circuit. If you do try it, make sure you run a 10-gauge, 30A extension cord or you could have a fire.
