Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

My 7-yr-old sony wega keeps restarting; blinks 30 times then video comes back on

Two things here to suggest: one is lamp life is 2000 hours or two years average--and many lamps that fail will either dim just a bit, take a bit longer than did to come up to full brightness and the set may detect that and try to blank the screen.

I am saying a lamp even if lamp light does not come on may be the problem or not.

Second, and I have seen this a lot, the fans in the set intake air in the front of the unit and exhaust it out the rear and no matter how clean the house is dust will get pulled inside.

Fans and air-path's can get coated with dust. Especially the blades on the fans, if a fan slows down just a little because of dust on its blades the set will also detect it as it monitors fan speeds etc.

A good dusting out with compressed air (try not to blow the dust into the screen area) will either confirm this or eliminate it as the problem. I almost always do it in the garage or outside as it may look like a dust storm when you do it.

These are my thoughts and I hope they may help you resolve your problem.

Why does my ac freeze up

Hello, air conditioners will freeze either due to low airflow.....such as dirty filter, dirty evaporator coil, weak or not running blower motor. Also, a low refrigerant charge can cause the unit to freeze up.

Wan,t get cold

4 simple things to check

# 1 Is the door gaskets sealing?
# 2 Have you cleaned ( blown ) the dust out from under the unit (coils ).
# 3 Is it defrosting? Too much ice in the freezer interferes with the cooling air flow.
# 4 Are both fans working? 1 fan in freezer and another one below the unit.

If your unit is NOT a static condensor, (the type with cooling fins and tubes on the outside of the back of the unit) If the door seals are okay and sealing properly, you might need to service the forced air condensor components located at the rear lower area, usually behind a fiber board cover. Remove the cover and look for dust on the condensor fins and fan blades. If clogged, carefully brush, vacuum, or blow the dust out, opposite the direction of the fans natural air flow direction. (You don't want to lodge the debris further into the condensor fins.)..Be sure to unplug the unit first.

Sider webs

Here's my suggestion: I have a 55" Philips HDTV and I live in an area known for excessive dust and more than a fair share of spiders. I checked online and found that there are usually 1-4 access panels that can be removed for cleaning, repair, etc. Here are my steps: 1. Remove the upper most panel (usually a trapezoid-shaped plastic "box"). There are anywhere from 1-4 "hangers" that, once all the screws are removed, will hold the panel in place while you are unscrewing the last few screws. 2. Remove the panel and clean with a lint-free cloth the entire inside of the panel. This is an area where a lot of dust and spider webs can be found. 3. Grab your vacuum cleaner and carefully clean away all the spider webs. Making sure you don't bump into the inside of the projector screen! 4. Spray a small amount of dust cleaner or window cleaner on the lint-free cloth and run the entire length of the TV. Clean all surfaces this way except the reflector (mirror). It is best to clean the mirror with compressed air (get it anywhere - usually in the computer section). 5. Using a flashlight or bare lightbulb, thoroughly inspect all surfaces for dust and spiderwebs. And, of course, clean anything missed the first time around. 6. Using a clean lint-free cloth (I find cotton underwear from Wal-Mart works the best), spray a very small amount of window cleaner (streak-free Windex, etc.) on the cloth and rub the cloth together until almost dry. Then, simply wipe all three lenses clean. 7. Replace the back panel and pay close attention to the alignment of the holes to ensure the screw goes back in the same way it came (if not, the panel could ultimately lose the seal and allow for more dust). 8. Allow for several minutes drying time before turning the set back on. Hints: 1. Clean the speaker area, too. 2. Repeat the process at least each 30 - 45 days to ensure optimal performance. 3. Use a small computer fan to circulate air behind the set if the area gathers excessive dust. They're quiet and can be purchased (almost anywhere - Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, etc.)with switches that are easily accessible.
