Microwave portion malfunction

I have an SCA2001BSS 30 and the microwave portion does not work. The main fuse was blown due to a power surge.

All of the other functions - the upper and lower ovens work properly.

  • Seadog39 May 24, 2008

It was the fuse inside the unit

  • Seadog39 May 24, 2008

All functions of the Advantium work except the microwave portion. When I attempt to use the microwave portion it sounds like it is running, the table turns, the fan runs. The other two portions cook properly - the upper and lower oven portions.

Thank you. We have checked the wiring and it appears all ok. Whgich parts do you think may have tobe replaced in the microwave portion?

ok, you will have to replace a few parts from the microwave and check the that the wireing is in good condition. The unit that actually heats the food may be broken.

Hard for me to say, as I don't have the service manual with the part diagram.

Heres a website which sells parts for GE microwaves

    Have a look here

Ask them with a email Im sure they can direct you. Unless you want to send the microwave somewhere to be serviced by a professional?

Change the fuse first and check and also check whether the connections inside are proper or not

Why did my micro stop working?

I guess the main plug fuse does not blow for the same reason it does not blow and you can wreck a PC, although not certain why that is. I have a feeling from past work on a Panasonic that there is an internal fuse as well. This may have blown with the power surge.

Fuse problem

I very much doubt it, chances are it has blown a capacitor or something along those lines, however the fuse in the mains plug should have blown before any damage was done, that's what they are there for, so if the fuse in plug is ok I think your microwave has had it.

That is a supplier for you.
It is a semi surge sand filled ceramic fuse and the rating will be stamped on the end cap.
Hope that helps.

I had a power surge in the house and now my GE sensor Microvawe is stone dead. Any ideas.

It is possible the main fiuse in the Microwave has blown. Sometimes this is a special ceramic fuse and costs around $30. But to get to the fuse you have to remove the outer cover of the microwave( unplug it first) It is usually located on Top left side of the unit. Once replaced it should return to service.

No power to microwave?

blown fuse take outer casing off and replace the blown fuse.
You can use a piece of tin foil around the fuse until you are able to replace the fuse.

My maytag microwave lost power

There is always a fuse inside a microwave.Sometime this has only blown due to a surge, and upon replacing, the microwave will continue working. If it is something worse the fuse will continue to blow.In this case it could very well be the transformer, but there are other possible causes as well.(for example the control board or a short.)
