-   the link to MS web site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461/en-us saying to search for registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} was useless. that key doesnt come up anywhere in my registry. i didnt upgrade to vista. it came with my toshiba satellite. this only started after a brand new hard drive and fresh install from a restore image cd. the device is splashed in the device manager.

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

now when i click the button to check online for a solution nothing happens either. not even a message saying it was unsucessful.

updating driver also does nothing, says it has the most up to date driver
