Few computer manufacturers still give recovery disks when you purchase a new PC. Instead they usually either create a 'recovery partition' on the hard drive or allow you to order them online. You can check with Acer here, (I'd need the exact model # to give you more info), or if you're are using Windows 7 go to Control Panel>Backup and Restore and click on 'Create a system repair disk' on the left-side menu. Just follow the directions. You'll also find that user's manuals are usually just a .pdf file in your new PC instead of the 'booklet' that we used to get.

The best solution is to check what was loaded on startup using msconfig - startup. uncheck all the programs that are not relevant to your programs. run chkdsk, run clean disk, run defragmentation.

If your computer is asking for a bootable disk drive on startup, it typically indicates drive failure and your harddrive needs replacement. Sorry for the badnews.
