Who are these people designing the leg locks. These are the poorest examples of engineering. Even a child could see that the leg lock begs to be broken. Maybe Vivitar should stick to flashes
Try www.TripodQuickRelease.com for that part. There is listed the widest selection of quick releases and support more brands than any other web site I've seen.Because your tripod is not supported by the manufacturer; parts lists and pars are not available, you should measure the opening and see what other brand quick releases will work paying attention to the shape and locking mechanism.Otherwise just get another tripod.

Because of the age of the tripod, and the fact that Vivitar no longer sells or supports tripods, I think you would be better served if you bought a new tripod.Slik and Manfrotto are two that will offer you a great price, durability and in the case of the Manfrotto, parts available from a wide range of sources including the USA distributor: www.bogenimaging.usyou can see tripod and parts at www.BogenTripodParts.comOtherwise you could try ebay or craigs list to find the same model and use it for parts.
No replacement parts available for that telescope. Suggest you take the tripod to a well stocked hard ware store and see if they have any screws, bolts, or clamps that would repair the tripod.
