Question about Philips 42TA648BX 42 in. LCD TV

1 Answer

I have a Philpis 42" LCD TV Model # 42TA648BX/F7. Basically, I know the Power supply board is bad (it was not functional when I aquired)). Obviously someone previously had it diagnosed and got sticker shock so tried (horribly) to repair the board and failed. I found a new board and will get it tomorrow, but I wanted to verify something. It looks like the 3 main components are Power supply board, Mother Board, and screen. In between the 2 boards, there is an open spot and a sticker that says "Option Code" and gives a part number. I want to make sure there is not another board that goes there on this model and has been removed before I got it, or is that all there is with this unit?

Appears that the only other major component is the Servkit assembly

I have a Philips 42 inch model # 42PFL7403D/F7 - trouble turning on the TV - after powering on the TV - no picture, I have to pull out the power plug a couple of times to get the picture

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts

My tv will not turn on when plugged in i have left it unplugged then plugged back in and iam getting no power to the tv is something burned out or what. my tv is a 42 inch phillips lcd Thankyou SP

It may have the power supply (bad caps, blown fuses), main board, inverter board (shorted circuits that cause the TV to stay in shutdown mode) problem. It will require in-depth troubleshooting. Please read my guide first to get some understanding of how the TV works.

What bulb do i need for my 42'' philips

Philips 42TA648BX is LCD flat panel LCD TV, there is no consumer changeable lamps in this TV like DLP Projection TV.
What is the problem with this TV?

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

I have no picture but I do have sound on Philips 42 TA648BX, what part needs to be replaced?

Have no picture can be caused by bad T-CON board, bad main board, bad 24vdc power supply for the backlight inverter board, bad backlight inverter board. You need to get some basic understanding how LCD flat panel works so it will guide you how to go about troubleshooting it because I am not going to tell you to throw in the boards until the problem is solved, it can get real expensive.

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.

Screen dead - no power Is there an internal

Yes, there is main AC fuse in the power supply module, it is usually marked on the board as F??.
If is has blown fuse, then you will need to Ohm out the circuits to see if it has any shorted out components such as brdige rectifiers, MOSFET, ECT.

We had a power outage and the next day all I could get on my TV was the blinking power light. Can you hellp me? I have a Samsung 42" LCD Flat Panel HDTV Model No. LN T4042N edit

Hi, the power surge has destroyed the power supply board that is located inside your lcd cabinet. this board works in conjunction with an inverter board that regulates the raw ac current that is used for many different functions in your set. Normally, this type of damage will be isolated within the power supply but, it could have spread to the main control board as well, depending on how well the surge protector preformed during the surge.

The good news is that, this is a repairable situation. you can replace the power supply circuit board and inverter board as well. these replacements will fix this issue.

please rate and god bless:)
