If you have sufficient computer expertise to deal with superior PC problems, you may consider repairing registry problems simply through built- in Registry Editor. Before editing the Windows registry, you need to make a backup for the registry files:
  1. Click Start, and then select Run, and type REGEDIT on the pop- up. Click OK.
  2. In the Registry Editor, select the registry key you need to back up.
  3. From the Registry menu, select Export Registry File option.
  4. From the Save In list, click the folder where you want to save the backup.
  5. In the File Name box, type a name for your backup file, such as "Options" or "Backup."
  6. In the Export Range box, be sure to select "Selected branch" option.
  7. Click Save. The file is saved with a .reg extension.

Once finishing backing up the registry files, you are allowed to edit the registry manually:
  1. Click Start, and then go to Run.
  2. Type "regedit" onto the dialog box, and then press Enterto enable Registry Editor.
  3. Find out HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder and double click to open it. Then click "Software" folder, go to "Microsoft" folder, select "Windows" folder, click"Currentversion" Folder.
  4. Click "Run" folder ==> Click on the UIMain.exe file.
  5. Click Delete UIMain.exe key to remove the file.

Avery Labels 5366 not adhering to file folders

There may be incompatibility between the adhesive on the labels and the file folder material. You might be using plastic folders or folders coated with something that affects the adhesive. Why not check with Avery for a solution?

What type of Back up involves selecting the files you want to back up as well as when you want them to backed up?

I'm not sure what exactly are you asking, but here are the possible backup scenarios in Windows 2000
  • Normal - Saves files and folders and shows they were backed up by clearing the archive bit.
  • Copy - Saves files and folders without clearing the archive bit.
  • Incremental - Saves files and folders that have been modified since the last backup. The archive bit is cleared.
  • Differential - Saves files and folders that have been modified since the last backup. The archive bit is not cleared.
  • Daily - Saves files and folders that have been changed that day. The archive bit is not cleared.
You can use Scheduler to point the time you want the backup to be done.

Hi. We are trying to use an avery label 22807 and also 22806 for a label factory logo we created. We need measurements/diameters so that we can print on these labels. They keep printing wrong. ...

If you are using Microsoft work to print the label, then follow the link below to Avery's website. The link is to their find a template, type in the label number in the Product # or Keyword search box and it will take you to a down load for that label. Click on the download, you will be asked for some information before the download begins. Follow the instructions on the next page (save the file and remember were you saved it). When you open the saved file it will be in Word and you can go from there.

I have installed Avery for my Word 2007. I am trying to do labels from an existing excel spreadsheet, also 2007, and when I get to the point to select from existing file it says there was an errora and...

Jill (guerinje),

I might have a solution for you.

I recently ran into this issue as well. When using the Avery Wizard (Avery Wizard 4.01 - US 20111209.exe), I was able to select the Avery Product template, the customization Design, and could select the 'Merge data from an existing data file' option, but when I clicked 'Next' to continue, I got an aborted list of recently used data files and then an error pop-up stating that the Avery Wizard encountered an error and needed to close. There was also the option of notifying Microsoft of the error.

Here is the solution that worked for me - TAKE CARE - This solution makes changes to the computer's Registry: WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall Windows.

These instruction are for Windows XP. Other operating systems will most likely require adjustments to the steps below.

Step 1: Open the Registry Editor: Click the Start Button -- Select 'Run...' -- Type regedit -- Click 'OK'

Step 2: Select the Registry Entry: In the Left-Hand pane of the Registry Editor, double click on 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER', then on 'SOFTWARE', then 'Avery', then 'Avery Assistant', then '4.0', then single click on 'Recent Data Files'.

Step 3: Backup the Registry Entry: On the 'File' menu, select 'Export...' -- Select your Desktop for the 'Save in:' field -- Enter a name for the backup of this registry entry: I used 'Avery Recent Data Files' -- Make sure the 'Save as type:' is Registration Files (*.reg) -- click the 'Save' button.

Step 4: Delete the Registry Entry: In the Right-Hand pane of the Registry Editor, ignore the entry for '(Default)', select the entry for File1, hold down the 'Shift' key on your keyboard and then select the last file value (for me it was File9 - File10 was actually listed between File1 and File2) -- When all the File entries are selected, right click on them and select 'Delete'.

Step 5: Exit the Registry Editor: Either Select the File menu's Exit option or click the red 'X' button in the upper right corner of the Registry Editor Window.

Step 6: Restart the computer

Step 7: Login again

Step 8: Test the Avery Wizard in Word to verify it works. If it does not work: You should restore the registry values you deleted by double clicking on the 'Avery Recent Data Files.reg' backup that you saved to the desktop in Step 3.

Step 9: If the Avery Wizard works again: You can delete the 'Avery Recent Data Files.reg' backup that you saved to the desktop in Step 3.

And that's it. This process worked on the two computers that were having this issue at my office. Hopefully it will work for you as well.

Good Luck,
fnis

Can't open up Avery Design Pro 5 with .zdl files but can open up the files by running the Design Pro 5 first and finding the files. Why is this and how do we fix this?

Start -> Control Panel -> Programs -> Default Programs -> Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program. Scroll through the list of file extensions for .zdl. Double click on the extension. In the Choose the program that you want to use dialog box, choose Avery Design Pro 5 if it is listed. If it's not listed, click on the browse button and locate it. It will open into the C:\Program Files directory. If you don't know where the Avery Design executable (exe) is, you can right click on the icon on you desktop and select properties to find it's location.

Disclaimer: these instruction are for Windows Vista/7. If you are using a different Windows OS the steps will be different. In the future you may want to provide that information.

Can't open a Word Perfect document with .avery at the end.

Please have a look at the FAQ for Avery label maker and see if your question is not answered there.
In general, wordperfect document files will have a .wpd extension. If your file has a .avery extension, it must have been saved by the Avery application and should therefore be opened by the same application.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Are you syncing the new device to the same username in Palm Desktop as an older device?
If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you sync the device, it saves the device settings, 3rd party apps, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the username folder on the PC. When

you sync the new device it copies the contents of the backup folder for the old device to the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings for the new device thus causing erratic behavior of the new device.

Looks like you may need to hard reset your device and rename your backup folder

Go to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the directions to do a hard reset. Next before you hotsync your data back over you will need to rename your backup folder, to do that go here;

XP
C:\program files\palm or palm one\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
folder to backup.old

Vista
Start-->documents\Palm OS Desktop\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
folder to backup.old

Then hotsync to your current hotsync name and all your contacts, calendar,
tasks, and memos will come back over.

Show file extensions for XP or Vista

XP
If you can not view file extensions on your PC I would like you to open a
folder go to Tools-->Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.

Vista
Open control Panel go to Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.
