My Brother got this mp3 player for his birthday. The Mp3 player was a RCA pearl TH1602. My dad is about ready to take it back. My brother opened the package and was synchronizing music to it last night. After he was done synchronizing the mp3 player shut off. He then turned it back on and now all it says is pearl when he turns it on. What must i do to get it working again?

Re: hey i have a Problem
Make sure the lock by the headphone jack is not engaged first.
If it is not locked, then reset the player by removing and reinserting the battery.
Make sure the player is fully charged before transferring songs - transferring large amounts of songs in one sitting can sometimes drain the player's resources faster than it can recharge.
My solution to a Pearl TH1602-A stuck on the pearl screen:
Download the firmware upgrade from Lucy5829's solution, run it. RCA PEARL FIRMWARE DOWNLOAD window should open. Remove battery from Pearl, keep out. Press PLAY and hold while plugging into USB port, when "initializing" progress bar moves, let go off play button.
On my windows, it installed some software and asked me to reboot. After the reboot I re-ran the Pearl firmware file and about 30 seconds later the start button was now available.
Click it. However, You will loose your music on the internal storage.
You can find the firmware upgrade by going to this link: http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/product.aspx?product=396 click on "downloads" towards the bottom right, and then click on Answer #1. The link for the upgrade is there. I had a similar problem with my player just saying Pearl, and not booting up, but I was patient, changed the battery, and eventually it came back up. I haven't had any problems since. Good luck :)

Try a firmware recover. Download the firmware update from the RCA website and install the app. Start the updater and connect the player holding the PLAY button until it gets detected. This is a similar player with the recovery procedure explained:
When was the last time you flashed the firmware? Even if it already has the latest firmware, it sounds like it is still corrupted and need to be reflashed. It appears you already know where to find the latest firmware update based on your comments, but just in case you can download it here: http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2557
start the program, remove the battery, hold the play button while plugging into usb, release the play button when the the term "initializing" replaces "searching", click the start button to replace the firmware.
You might want to leave the "format data" box unchecked to see it that works. After I did this, my pearl started normally, and my computer recognized it again.
It depends sometimes some songs may be copyrighted and cannot be played on the Mp3............
But as u say ur able to play 67 songs............
Just format your Mp3 player......
Formatting the Mp3 Player:
Connect the Mp3 player to the Computer..........
Go to My Computer> Right click on the Removable Disk and click on Format and click on Start.....
Know reload all the songs back to the Mp3 player.....
You should be able to force the Pearl into recovery mode by removing the battery, then hold down the "Play" button while inserting into USB port, after a few seconds, Windows should detect "USB Human Interface Device" (see Device Manager). Now you should be able run the firmware update. Worked for mine after it froze up one day and would not be detected as a USB device by Windows.
