Hi,

You can try switching over to 2500 mAh Nickel Metal Hydride rechargeable batteries and you will see a difference.
Digital cameras with zoom lens need more power than what can be supplied by ordinary batteries.

If you still face the problem then the only solution will be to get it serviced as it can be a mechanical problem.

Goodluck,

The problem may be of the batteries check that first and also try by taking the battery out and then put and try. otherwise there may be some discontinuity in connections inside the camera check.............hope this info will help you

Ok, so this camera uses basic aa batterys. Try another set of batterys. If the same problem comes up. You have to send the camera in for service. As there is a hardware or a software fault in the camera.

If you have warranty I beleave they will repair this for you, contact your dealer in that case.

  • Ekse May 24, 2008

but also, tell me about the batterys that you are useing.

  • Ekse May 24, 2008

This camera uses AA alkaline batteries- Are your lithium batterys charged?!

  • Ekse May 24, 2008

Try another set of batterys to see if the problem is in the camera and not in the batterys.

He did have a valid solution though.

You will have to contact Nikon about any warranty claims. The standard warranty seems to be 1 year.
I have found that there is a firmware update for this camera that allows for support for Ni-MH rechargeable batteries (the original firmware only supported alkaline or lithium batteries). Try that firmware update to see if it resolves your issue.

Using up batteries even when off

Here are the steps:
1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. Please use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher).
2. Clean the battery contacts.
a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth.
b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera
3. Turn on your camera without the memory card.

Batteries are Depleted

A camera rep told me that use about 2500mi (?) batteries instead of the 900 I was using otherwise the batteries will be depleted with just one picture. Digital cameras or any other digital piece of equipment needs the extra power. Make sure that your charger will charge the 2500 power ones fully.

S2 pro electronic malfunction?!?!

If your lithium batteries are depleted, having them in the camera will shut it down. A common cause of depleting the lithium batteries is leaving them in the camera while using the AC power adapter. For some odd reason, the Fuji engineers did not build in a disconnect circuit when on AC power. You should always remove the lithium batteries when using the AC adapter.

The Fuji S2 will run fine without the lithium batteries, except that you will not be able to use the built-in flash. Fuji recommends that as an "emergency" procedure, but I ran my S2 off NiMH AAs only for my heavy use over four years with no adverse effects.

If you buy the MB-16 battery pack or one of the modified versions for the S2, you would be able to use 8 AA batteries to power the camera, including the built-in flash, and never touch another lithium battery. The MB-16 itself does require some modification in filing off edges around the base and building up material around the post to firmly engage the switch you found.
