SOURCE: electrolux z4494 vacuum cleaner mains cable wont stay out

Opened up case as follows:
- Open lid of bag chamber. Remove lid by gentry prising the hinge arms slightly further apart so the hing unclips from the body.
2 deeply recessed screws now accessible at rear edge of bag chamber - undo.
Prise out large button of on/off switch to reveal another screw - undo
Prise out large button of cable retract to reveal another screw - undo.
Cover now lifts off.

Inside I found the brake wheel had fallen out of its plastic bracket. The plastic bracket is hinged, and moved my pressing one end with the big button, which lifts the wheel away from the cable drum. Gently prised the bracket arms apart and put the brake wheel back in.
Solved it - but don't know why it happened, or whether it is likely to happen again.

Cord will not retract on epic 6500 sr

Try tipping it on its end,or nearly so. Then tug gently and release until it retracts. This has worked for me nearly every time I'd tried on various Electrolux vacuums.
If this doesn't work, the vacuum needs to be taken to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store for repairs.

How do I repair my Electrolux Lux 9000 cannister electrical cord retraction? It was pulled out as far as it would go and now it doesn't retract.

First, try standing vacuum on it's back end. Gently pull on cord and release. Try this a few times.
If this doesn't work, you'll need to take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and let the service tech repair it. Although it's relatively easy to disassemble, reassembling correctly is trickier. I've had several machines come into the shop disassembled because the owner couldn't figure out how to put it together again.
Also, when taking the cord rewinder apart, there's a risk of breaking tabs that hold it together.

Brushroll in electrolux oxygen+ deluxe

Is the brush roll not working at all? Check the teeth at the sides of the brush roll by opening up the electric head. If it has completely been destroyed you may have to buy another new head for it. Separate brush rolls are difficult to obtain and work out more expensive sometimes than the electric heads themselves.

How do i open canister for cord retract repair

There are four screws under the lid, and there are two additional screws under the face plate for the controls display. You'll need a thin, flat blade screw driver to "pop" the face plate off. The two additional screws that you are looking for are deeply recessed about the bracket-nozzle park.

Central vacuum motor. Posted by knise on Jun 29, 2008 Circuit breaker attached to a board inside the vacuum shroud “clicks" rather than motor starting?
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It sounds to me like you have a bad replay switch on the inside of the Electrolux Central Vacuum and it needs replacing. They are not too bad as per the cost if you are mechanically able but B4 you attempt to do that I would have it checked by a local vacuum cleaner central vacuum service tech just in case. I will give you the website and the factory phone number for the Electrolux listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hello, I have an Electrolux Twin Clean EL7055A vacuum canister, and can't switch it on anymore. The cleaning system is working well (so the power is ok) but the command which is not directly in the canister seems not working. What I can do to test if the problem is here? 1 Other User Has the Same Problem Comment by fayreid, posted on May 31, 2008 I have an Electrolux 6000 series that will not stay on, if you hold switch located inside canister down it stays on but once closed it will not. Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The problem you are describing sounds to me like you have a electrical hose problem where the wires on the inside of the electrical are bad and not creating a solid signal for the power. Or you may have a bad switch and both can be repaired but the electrical hose would be the more expensive of the two (2). You can check with your local vac dealer or contact the Electrolux website or factory phone # for further assistance. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

No power when I plug into outlet

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. You may have 3 problems that I can see. You may have a bad electrical outlet, but I doubt it, the bad cordwinder cord or a short in the cordwinder itself, or a connection came loose in the motor section. If you need further assistance then contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or contact the Electrolux factory listed below. . Hi, I have replaced the electric cord on Electrolux Lux Royal vacuum, but the rewind that retracts the cord does not pull it in. The coil spring looks ok but it will not pull the cord back in, any suggestions please.
Thanks Dave Ryder

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The question I have is it the Electrolux or the Royal cordwinder, if the cordwinder is sprung you may have to get a new one or a good used one, it’s been a while since I have done a cordwinder and I have seen it done, but I know when you remove the cordwinder you need to lock in the spring so that it does not loose it tension and re-coil ability. You may want to ask your local vac dealer to see if you need to repair or replace. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
