Turn the cable-modem off.
Unplug the AC poewr to the cable-modem.
Turn the router off.
Unplug the AC power.
Reconnect the AC power to both the cable-modem and the router.
Turn the router on -- this off/on sequence should "reset" the cable-modem and the router.

If the router still does not work, replace it.

If the cable-modem does not work, get RoadRunner to replace it, if they want to keep you as a paying customer.

We just got a road runner cable motem, and I had a linksys router before we got the road runner. I have a dsixl, and it's not connecting to the linksys anymore. please help.

Unplug the roadrunner cable modem completely as well as the Linksys. Let them sit for 20 minuets or so and then plug in the roadrunner modem first. Let it power up completely and then connect the linksys via the internet or wan port.

Check for connectivity.

If no internet connection enter the linksys control web page usually at 192.168.1.1 and perform a ip address release/renew on the status page.

If you do not know your admin login for linksys the default is admin with a password of admin. If you are unable to access the router then perform a factory reset on the router.

Make sure the router is powered ON. Then Press+Hold the Reset button of your router for 30secs first. (Reset is found on the back panel of your router, you have to use a pen or a paper clip to press the button) For the LED's if the power blinking that indicates that the router is being reset and then power-cycle the router for only 30secs.

If the Power LED won't blink Press+Hold the Reset Button for 1min and then Power-cycle the router for another 1min. Then check the IP address of your PC then try accessing your router's GUI admin console using a web browser with the address of 192.168.1.1 and use admin as your password.

Router causing internet connection to fail intermittently

Hello,
There are a few things can make your wireless router to lose your connection. I like to start with the most simple things first. First clear Out any clutter on your browser. If your are using Internet explorer, go to tools click delete browsing history. When the box appears, clear out the first 3 things. History, Cookies, and temporary Internet files. Firefox, you click on tools, clear private internet files.
After than do a disk cleanup.
In start menu, go to all programs, accessories, system tools and select disk clean up. After this unplug Cable modem's electric cord, unplug the power to your wireless router, leave it unplugged for a couple of minutes, Then plug in your modem, router and restart your pc in that order. If that doesn't work you can always change you network name and WEP key, Hope this helps, also I was assuming you are using a PC and not Mac.

3. Go to the Setup Tab
4. On WAN Connection Type make sure it is set to "Obtain an IP Automatically"
5. Go to the DHCP tab and make sure it is enabled
6. Unplug the Roadrunner modem and the Linksys Router.
7. Wait around 15-30 seconds
8. Plug the Roadrunner modem in and wait until all the lights except the ethernet/computer connection are on.

Problem with network

Make sure the physical connections are correct. Modem connected to the Internet Port of the router and your PC to port number 1 on the Linksys router as well. Try to reset the router. Hold the reset button at the back of the router for about 20 seconds. After that, unplug the power to the router and to the cable modem. Wait for 30 seconds. Plug the modem first, wait for the lights to stop blinking then plug in the router. Check if the internet works fine again.
