I've had my Systemax PC for less than a year, however, after the myriad of
issues I've been plagued with (suffice to say I will not be buying another
Systemax PC ever again) I've come to the conclusion that the best course of
action to take is to format the PC.
Has anyone on this newsgroup had any experience with the Systemax
(WindowsXP) recovery disk? Having gone through the disk myself I can't find
anything on it that would allow me to format.
Using explorer on the D:\ there are four folders; DOCS, Q308402, SUPPORT,
VALUEADD, two .bin files; BOOTCAT.BIN, BOOTIMG.BIN and one '002 File' called
XP_HOME.002.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to here about your system. I also have a Systemax PC. Things go
wrong with all makes of PCs, but the warranty they gave me was too good to
pass (5Y parts). By the time the warranty is over, if anything needs to be
replaced it will be due to obsolecence. I've worked with worse
manufacturers on friend's machines.
Anyway back to your situation. Most restore CDs will essentially format and
reinstall to the Out Of Box condition you received the computer in. Some
will also allow you to retain your documents & programs. That option
basically just reinstalls windows on top of itself, and I would not
recommedn that. Just insert the CD and let the computer boot from CD and
you should be back to day 1.
