The "PF" code means power failure and is displayed because of the tripping of the circuit breaker in the house; there's indeed a power failure. The cause of the tripping of the breaker is the root cause of the PF being displayed. Most like a short circuit is in the heating circuit particularly the heating element. Find the short circuit location using a circuit tester and remove it in order to address the problem.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. PF means power failure and it seems to be the issue with the Thermal Fuse going bad and needs to be replaced. It is mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. If that is fine then the issue is with the Control going bad and should be replaced. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

My whirpool dryer panel comes on but when you push the start button!, it clicks off and then displays the pf code.

PF is a Power Failure error meaning electricity has been interrupted to the machine.

Any electrical interruption to the machine such as a circuit breaker being reset or weather related power outage can cause a PF error code.

To remedy;

Press the Pause/Cancel/Stop button twice to clear the PF in the display.

Try to start a short cycle to check the operation of the machine by selecting a cycle and pressing and holding the start button.

If you continue to receive the PF error code, the control board may need to be replaced

Why does kenmore dryer model 417.8804277 keep beeping when not in use?

If you have the 417.88042700 dryer, this is often a symptom of a control panel failure. First though, try resetting the dryer. Unplug the unit (or flip the circuit breaker to off). After 30 seconds to one minute, plug the dryer back in. Press Cancel twice to clear the PF message. Try running a short cycle and see if the unit beeps after the cycle is over.

Also check if you are getting brief power failures. Really short ones might cause beeping without the PF message on the display.

If neither of the above explain the issue, you probably need to check the control board or wiring for a short. A replacement control board is available here: http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/b6p8/Kenmore-Dryer-Main-Control-Board/137008010/1472768?modelNumber=417.88042700 .

I hope this helps.

What does blinking pf mean

This means 'Power 'Failure'.
This could be from the circuit breaker being tripped and then was reset, wall outlet issue, or possibly if the cord was replaced then the screws conecting the wires to dryer may not be tight. Make sure dryer in unplugged before checking connections.
Some homes have an energy management system where higher energy use appliances are given a priorty so they all cannot run at same time so keeps your electric bill lower.
For example, the water heater and a/c system would be wired to override the dryer so if both these were runnng and then you turned on the dryer, the control unit would shut power down to dryer within a short time.
Hope this helps.

I have had my Kenmore HE2 dryer for a little over a year. Recently, I am getting a "PF" in the display and the dryer stops after the dryer is on for a short time. This happens 3 out of 4 times...

PF is a power failure code. Try turning the breaker completely off and back on again. If it continues to happen you may want to call an electrician as your circuit may not be able to handle the strain which could be potentially hazardous.

Have kenmore 61951 dryer PF comes on go thru the steps it turns on and then shuts off what could be the problem

PF is a power failure error meaning electricity has been interrupted to the machine. Any electrical interruption to the machine such as a circuit breaker being reset or weather related power outage can cause a PF error code. Try resetting the appliance by disconnecting it from the outlet or switching off the circuit breaker for 20-30 minutes, then restore the power. If the reset doesn't work I suspect the control board has failed.

PF means Power Failure. Check the breaker in your breaker box. The dryer uses 2 breakers that are put together. Reset the breakers to see if the problem gets fixed.

I just plugged in the dryer it has a "PF" message and won't do anything, unplugging dosen't change anything....

Pf is power factor. It is showing you there was an interuption of power. Some models you have to wait at least 3 minutes before you can press stop / pause / cancel to clear the PF. If you still keep getting PF go to the main CB panel and turn off the Dryer CB by physically pushing to breaker to the OFF position to reset the breaker then back to on. You will have to wait again before you can clear the PF. If after resetting the breaker you still get the PF in the display you may have to find out what power you actually have at the outlet. 115V or 230V. Other factors come into play also like 3 or 4 prong connections vs the previous connection. They do make a difference and if the power cord was installed incorrectly the PF will never clear until the cord is connected correctly.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Kenmore 67082 "PF" power failure code

Check your circuit breaker. Reset it even if it doesn't look tripped. It is a dual switch and sometimes you can't tell if one of them is tripped. Then try it. When you reset the breakers leave them off for about 10 minutes before turning them back on.
