Just take down your serial number and keep it in a safe place:

go to "My Computer" and right click and go to properties

Look for the OEM and write it down.

You can then use a disc from someone else to install everything over again as long as you use the code you own. You may also purchase a copy from microsofts customer service by write a email or calling them(go to microsoft.com to see what the local number is or reply back with where you live)

Look on your D drive. Also, this option is available from several other areas. New units now require users to create the restore cds, and many do not do so.....

How do I recover or repair bootini and bootsect for Windows XP Professional after uninstalling Windows 7 Ultimate?

It's good that you have the recovery cds. Do NOT reformat the hard drive. Restore with the cds so you'll have a clean install . You will need to have any software cds that did not come with the original pc in order for them to rebuild the registry entries. That is the easiest way because there won't be any left over files from Windows 7 after you restore to XP.

How do I do a factory reset from safe mode with command prompt? windows xp

Restoring Windows XP operating system can be performed in DOS mode if XP's system restore tool cannot be accessed because of booting issues or when the XP recovery CDs are unavailable. There are two steps to this procedure: first, the XP system restore tool must be accessed using the DOS menu and second, the actual XP system restore is performed.

Start the computer and press the F8 key when the manufacturer's logo appears but before the Windows XP logo appears. Scroll through the menu options using the down arrow key. Select "Safe mode with a Command prompt" and hit the Enter key. Type in the administrator ID and password. Hit "Enter." Type in this code in the command prompt box to access the XP system restore tool: %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe. Hit "Enter." The XP system restore tool will open. b> How to Restore Windows XP b> Click "Restore my Computer to an Earlier Time" when the XP system restore tool starts. Click "Next." Choose a restore point before your operating system began to malfunction. Click "Next" and "OK." Click "Next" to begin the XP restoration process. Do not turn off the computer or attempt to stop the system restore tool, as this may damage the hard drive. The system restore tool will automatically restart the computer when it has finished restoring the operating system. Hope this helps.

Hello how do i restore my acer aspire 5332 laptop to factory settings

Unlike other laptops, Acer laptops integrate a computer management utility called 'Acer eRecovery Management' to create backup of hard drive data, create restore point, reinstall applications & drivers, and reset Acer laptop to factory setting.

Step 1: Before starting your Acer laptop, ensure that there is no external storage device attached to it. Now start your laptop.

Step 2: Press 'Alt + F10' when the laptop starts booting, and wait for a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

Step 3: When 'Acer eRecovery Management' window appears, select 'Restore System from factory default' and click 'Next' to continue.

Step 4: Again click 'Next' to reset your Acer laptop. This process will erase all data from your hard disk and reset your Acer laptop to original factory settings.

Step 5: Click 'OK' in the notification window to begin the the resetting operation. Now wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

Tips: You can also create a backup copy of your laptop data before factory reset. Simply click 'Backup' in 'Acer eRecovery Management' window.

If you have any other issue with your Acer laptop/desktop/Notebook, fget technical assistance at

My laptop as low disk space ands i need to reset my laptop to factory settins

When you do a factory reset you will normally lose everything on your hard disk so the low disk space should not be an issue ... BE SURE THAT, AS REQUIRED, YOU BACKUP EVERYTHING FIRST (on an external drive).

If you're running windows xp home edition and you have a windows disk you can reinstall windows and get the drivers from www.emachines.com. This same link might also have the restoration cds for about 25 bucks. check it out and good luck.

How do I restore factory settings on my AMD 64 processor 3400 .I have windows XP but at the moment my optical drive will not read CDROM program discs only DVD's.

Unfortunately you will have to buy an external cd/dvd drive simply because windows xp has no built in recovery partitions you will need the recovery cds to perform a factory recovery.

Forogt My XP Username Password! Cant Log In!

I've heard that Microsoft discontinued the password recovery program for Windows XP but you might want to go to Microsoft.com and search for "windows XP recovery program". If you didn't remove or change the original admistrator name out of the computer, you might be able to get in that way simply by typing in administrator and leave the password blank. Then you can reset it to whatever you need to.

Otherwise if those solutions don't work, then you might have to restore windows to get it to reset it back to factory default.

Cant restore my acer aspire 5100

ok well first iv had nothing but bad luck with them. i think you would need to buy a new copy of windows xp, u can choose the version. you cant get your factory settings back with all the programs that acer gives you when you buy your pc, unless they send you a new hard drive. the restore cds i think with acer word from that specific restore partition on the hard drive. and with most pcs from i think 2002 and up have the F11 option with the restore partition to reset and restore your computer. when they erased your hard drive, they erased every little bit of data that was on it. me personally can restore all, if not some of the information and personal data you have. please email me the model # serial # and as much else info you can provide of your computer. and i will do as much as i can to help. if you have any more questions, please email me at meanness628@aim.com

The quick restore dosen`t work

What operating system you are using before installing windows xp. If it is windows 98, Your restore cd will restore windows 98. if you want to restore to factory settings pls boot from the restore cd and format the harddisk. Becareful, this will erase your entire data on the harddisk which cannot be recover. If you are using licenced (not pirated) windows xp boot from it and reinstall windows xp so that you can run the os smoothly. But in either case becarefull when you are formating, it will destroy entire data and you may endup in soup. feel free to revert back for further quiries
