My vacuum seems to be overheating rather quickly. How might I fix this issue?

HI, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!

Your vacuums motor may be running hot for a number of reasons. Your vacuums filters may be blocked, or your vacuums bag/dust bin may be full. Be sure to empty the bag and clean/replace your filters.

Be sure to check your vacuums belt. On the other side of the belt is usually the drive shaft or motor pulley. If the belt isn't on properly it could be straining and overworking your vacuums motor, which in turn would overheat the motor. For optimal performance, the belt should be changed out every 3 months.

To find the belt part number compatible with your vacuum, please refer to your manufacturer manual.

You can purchase replacement parts for your vacuum direct from Crucial Vacuum with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

Sounds like 2 separate motors. remove the beater bar and see f that motor turns without any load. Of not time for a new beater bar motor.

How do I replace the power cord on my dirt devil

Not an easy chore since the cord goes directly to the motor terminals with spade connectors on the end of the wire. The job requires the complete disassembly of the vacuum cleaner

Take a good look to make sure roller not bound up with thread etc and at one end the belt (some in the middle is not broken) that drives the roller is intact---belt broken or seized up.

How do you get at filter to clean it/

Hi there,

The video embedded below shows the correct way to remove, wash and replace your DC07's pre-motor filter. Under normal use, this should be done every 3-6 months. Use cold water, and make sure the filter is totally dry before replacing it - this may take up to 24 hours.

The post-motor filter is a lifetime filter, and should not require attention. Do not attempt to remove or wash this filter.

If you have any further questions about using or maintaining your Dyson cleaner, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to provide the information and assistance you need. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Hi, how do I replace the fuse in the dyson dc7?

Other than the fuse in the plug, there is no fuse on a DC07. However, the motor does have a built in over-current trip to protect itself (and you if it seriously overheated and caught fire). This normally automatically resets itself, however if the motor has just about had it, the moment it is switched on, it just trips again.
It cannot be reset manually.

The primary cause of motors overheating is that the filters are not cleaned or replaced frequently enough. Dont be fooled by Dyson's "lifetime filters". They need to be regularly cleaned and replaced when necessary.

Replacement motors are available on eBay for about £25, however replacing one requires good DIY skills and tools.

Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com and see if you feel you can tackle it yourself. If not, take it to a repair shop or call the Dyson helpline.

Electric motor does work when switch is turned on. Tried different electrical outlets but still not work.
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Dirt Devil 12 Amp HEPA filer vacuum cleaner. It sounds to me like you may have a 2 motor system according to the picture and it also sounds like it could be the bottom motor of which if it is not working well then it may need replacement – there is really nothing you can do for the brushroll motor other than replacing it. Question? Do you have any suction from the main motor? If you do then it definitely is the brushroll motor that needs replacement. You can always check your Royal owners manual under the trouble shooting guide or you can contact the Royal cust serv dept listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

With Miele S758 vacuum cleaner. Occurs continually.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
I would advise checking your owner’s manual, it sounds like it could be a motor going bad and It might still be under a factory warranty depending on when you purchased the item, check the owner’s manual for the trouble shooting part to see what is going on and I will also give you some phone #’s listed below to assist you with your problem. Part of which might be the belt if it is a flat belt – it does require changing every 4 to 6 months and if it is a geared belt then you should replace every year or so for the best cleaning. Or you may have a bad connection or computer board that is going bad. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Works sometime. Thought it was old HEPA filter. Replaced it and it ran for a few minutes and stopped again.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Kenmore 22612 Bagged Canister Vacuum. It sound sot be that it could be your electrical hose be have a short in it or your carbon brushes needs cleaning or replacement or the worst problem is that it could be your motor, fields or armature. Most motors can be rebuilt but I would check the simpler things 1st B4 you try to rebuilt or replace the motor.

I am not sure if Sears / Kenmore can download the owner’s manual from the website but I would suggest that you call the Sears / Kenmore Factory to have them send out a copy of the owners manual so that you can do it yourself or if that is not the way you want to do it contact your local vac dealer and they can help or call the factory for further assistance. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
