Question about Symbol MC9090-G RFID Handheld Barcode Scanner

1 Answer

I work for a small business and I am the inventory manager. I have 5 MC9090-G RFID devices. 2 of the 5 are able to access my remote computer with no problems. The other 3 says "The specified remote computer could not be found. When I search for WLAN on my scanner I can see my WLAN that I want to connect to. I proceed by pressing connect and going through the profile entry questions and hitting next. Then I try to connect and it says "the profile you are trying to connect to may not connect due to regulatory issues." I dont understand why? I compare my working scanners with my non functional ones and all the settings seem to be the same. I realize it may be an in-house problem with the network set up but I talked to our tech guys that come in and they have been little to no help. So I'm trying to get this sorted out on my own! Thanks

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Hi my MC9090-G wont power on.

On an MC9090, with the battery removed, hold both power and trigger down, then insert the battery, and keep holding both buttons down. Wait for the onscreen display.

Can you improve the screen touch sensativity on a MC9090-G RFID?

Quick answer no you can't. The touch screen is a resistive panel and hence you may get panels with slightly different tolerances, but that’s about it.

If they are old and worn they do tend to need a bit more persuasion to work and once they stop working they need replacing.

Hope this helps.

I replaced a Symbol MC9090. How do you configure it

The RFID version requires a fair bit of knowledge and an application that is RFID capable. Contact your dealer. If you bought it used or off the web, good luck. Your best bet is to contact the Help Desk at 1-800-653-5350 or work with a full service dealer in your area

The link works for me DataWedge provides a convenient mechanism for non-scanning aware applications to receive data from embedded or connected data capture devices. It allows the user to capture data into any application that accepts keyboard input. It supports four types of Data Feeds: Barcode Scanners, RFID Tag Readers, MSR Readers and Serial Data Input. It provides user with text/hex data formatting and prefix/suffix facilities. Description
  1. New Test and Log Display.
  2. Improved DataWedge Startup Time for MSR and RFID
  3. Gen2 RFID Support
  4. Device enable/disable persistence over cold boot
  5. Virtual Key Support in Prefix/Suffix
  6. Performance improvements for MSR
  7. Enable Serial Interface on startup
  8. Support added for Event based Serial reading.
  9. Delays regarding RFID are fixed.
  10. Several Barcode character mapping issues fixed.

Is there a way to disable the Bluetooth and WiFi at an administrative level?

install a program called symbol appcenter and you can keep people from accessing anything you do not want them to access, I have it installed on mine for an inventory system and all my employees can access is the inventory system. As the administartor I have the password if I need to access anything else in the scanner to ake changes, but nobody else can.

WIn XP has a built in Firewall that may be enabled. To disable this Click on Start, go to control panel and then network connections. Right click the local area connection and go to properties. Click the advanced tab and uncheck: Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet. If you do not do this it can prevent you from using the router or even accessing the router configuration screen. The reason it causes a problem is the router already has a firewall and the built in firewall can cause a problem.
