Question about Computers & Internet

My Epson CX5400 is giving me trouble. I recently installed fresh ink and my printing has gotten worse. Even though all my ink cartridges are showing full the darkest I can print is medium grey. I've done several things to try to fix it in the Mac X utilites and nothings changed. Any ideas?

    Wiz,

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I've already tried that. I've gone through all of the utilities cleaning the head, and others. And it hasn't worked. I've tried turning the printer on and off. Removing the cartridges and putting them back in. I've tried a wide range of things before asking for help and paying $6. What else do you think it is? Is the black ink not getting in the printer?

    Thanks,

    Jason

Wiz didn't read my comments very closely. I've tried all of the utility functions on the computer including running CLEANING. So his advice was already tried. So my $6 was a waste at this point. Can anyone else help my problem with a real solution.
    thanks

Here is Epson's support page, which suggests some things to try. I suppose you aligned the head, so that shouldn't be affecting it. Perhaps some of the software will assist you:

Hi! You may need to run CLEANING first to resolve the problem. If the inks are newly installed it's necessary to run cleaning. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

Hello, I have the Epson SX510W and even though all of the ink cartridges are loaded, it doesn't use the black ink.It shows it does in the program for refilling it, but on the paper, the parts that are...

Epson printers have replaceable ink tanks but the firing nozzles are permanently built into the printer. The firing nozzle for the black ink is most likely blocked. Try the nozzle cleaning process via the supplied software, although this will waste a lot of ink and will not guarantee 100% success. If it is under warranty I would recommend returning it to the shop and buying a different make. These printers are not reliable and often require you to replace ink cartridges even though there is ink still in them, due to built-in chips which report the ink levels incorrectly.

My epson cx5500 does not print (test print ) I've been through a nozzle check and have fresh cartridges.... just end up with a blank page

If the inkjet printer has not been used for some time, and the ink cartridges are full then the print head nozzles may be blocked. If running the maintenance nozzle cleaning does not clear the print head nozzles then the print head will need to be replaced.
NOTE - inkjet print heads are not cheap, it may be better to purchase a new inkjet printer.

Did you use Epson Genuine Cartridges? ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Cartridges. !!!!!!!!You might have dried it up.

This is the only advice I can give you.

The next step would be to disassemble the Epson, and clean the Pads/Heads. Click on link below.:

How do i install my new ink cartridges in my printer epsom

Be sure you have a new ink cartridge before you begin. Once you start the ink cartridge replacement procedure, you must complete all the steps in one session.
  1. Make sure the EPSON Stylus CX5400 is turned on and not printing. The LCD screen tells you which ink cartridge is low or empty.
  2. If your EPSON Stylus CX5400 is low on ink, press the left Menu button until you see Change Cartridge, then press the Color Copy button.

If your EPSON Stylus CX5400 is out of ink, press the Color Copy button.

The ink cartridges move to the replacement position.

  4. Lift up the scanner.

  6. Pinch the tabs on the front and back of the cartridge, lift it out of the printer, and dispose of it carefully.

  8. Before you remove the new cartridge from its package, shake it four or five times.

  10. Unwrap the new ink cartridge and lower it into its holder, then press down on the top of the cartridge until it clicks in place.
  11. Caution: Don't touch the green circuit board on the back of the cartridge; you may inhibit normal operation and printing.

If you need to replace other ink cartridges, repeat steps 4 through 6 before continuing with step 7.
  12. Carefully lower the scanner and press it down until it clicks into place. The EPSON Stylus CX5400 begins charging the ink delivery system.
  13. The On light flashes and the EPSON Stylus CX5400 makes noise. Charging takes about 30 seconds. When it's finished, the On light stops flashing and stays on.
Caution: Never turn off the EPSON Stylus CX5400 while the On light is flashing, unless the Stylus CX hasn't moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.

Caution: Don't touch the green circuit board on the back of the cartridge, as you may inhibit normal operation and printing.

The On light flashes and the EPSON Stylus CX5400 makes noise. Charging takes about 30 seconds. When it's finished, the On light stops flashing and stays on steady.
Caution: Never turn off the EPSON Stylus CX5400 while the On light is flashing, unless the Stylus CX5400 hasn't moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.

if the issue still persists - you need to call the vendor - it´s a hardware issue
