Question about Palm Tungsten E2 Handheld

2 Answers

I used to be able for years to tansfer info from my Tungsten E2 to the PC by using a cradle, but now it does not function although I am doing he same things as before. I am told that if I download 6.2 it will make it work, but I have been unable to download it . Can you help me to do this?

You suggested this identical solution before and, as before, it will not load 6.2, so I am afraid that was a waste of time. I am not prepared to remove the batteries from te hand-held as that is my only source of vital information, and clearly I dare not risk losing it.

Please advise - it is most urgent.

I have sent you a message and now you ask me to send it again,Why?

  • goldrein Sep 29, 2010

I have replied to you twice!

  • goldrein Sep 29, 2010

The previous expert suggested action which could endanger the info. in my hand-held, and I dare not risk that. Please tell me how to download 6.2 without endangering the only source of Palm information I have - in the Tungsten E2.

Many thanks. I am printing out your advice but will probably leave it until early next week when I move from Windows XP to Windows7. That strikes me as reasonable but if you disagree please tell me.

If the problem isn't hardware related then updating to the newest version might help. I would assume from that bit of info that your are using vista or 7. I think this has been a issue with each version of desktop since windows xp.

First just to let you know that the connector on the usb cable does wear or not make proper contact. I went through the desktop reinstall routine and found only by accident that the connector wasn't making proper contact. I purchased a new cradle charger and my data was working and it charged faster to boot. So if the desktop doesn't fix anything. Give your cable a wiggle and see if it works even for a instant. If you see that much or any life out of it, then you know its the ends and just replace it. You may also want to try the palm and cable on a different computer. It should be detected most likely as a unknown device. This would let your rule out the cable and palm and you might then have a usb port problem instead.

First I'll give you the instructions on how/where to get the software then I'll paste the direct link. (It's a long url so it may not copy correctly)

First go to then click on the support tab. Next click on the PDA, then click on the Palm TX not your E2. Along the left hand side it should day Palm 6.2 desktop. Click on that and you are taken to the download page. Click on the download button and save to your desktop or someplace you can remember where it is. When its done just click on it and install.
It should pick up your older data files but if not you will just have to hotsync to get them into your desktop.

You may want to try reinstalling your older desktop software version first.

Here is the link to the download page.

This is the first time I've posted anything on this so perhaps someone else here was trying to help you as well.

I will let them take care of you then.

You can download 6.2 here: Palm Support : Palm Desktop 6.2 a

Before downloading or installing 6.2, try the following:

Disconnect palm adapter and remove palm battery.
Disconnect computer power cord.
If computer is a laptop or Macbook, remove main battery.
Connect everything back and restart computer first.
Start Palm and connect USB cable.

If that does not work, try downloading and installing 6.2 from the link above.

Removing the batteries does not erase the information stored in hand held disk as files, it will only turn off applications and you will loose only unsaved files.

Downloading or installing 6.2 must be done on a computer, not on the handheld, if after that does not connect yet, then there is an additional problem, in that case you do hard reset.Hard reset will delete all your files (battery removal does not), then save all your data onto a memory card or other support (eg. upload if you have internet connection) before resetting.

My help is already refused (you gave two thumbs and asked to other), then I am mostly wasting my time in here.
At least I hope that my suggestions will help.

Hint: do not refuse experts unless they show incompetency. Some of the people answering do not have a clue about what they are talking about. Try finding a good expert, dont refuse it and have some patience if he her is online, otherwise you risk jumping from one to the other experts, often incurring in comments that make no sense.

Hope this helped, sorry about being refused.

I have a Tungsten E2 and I receive a message that my Handheld is only compatible up to Microsot Outlook 2002 and I have Microsot Outlook 2007. Do you have a patch or update for this?

there is no patch or update for this. You will have to get Microsoft Outlook 2002 because Microsoft Outlook 2007 cannot work with your Tungsten E2

The Tungsten E2 has been programmed by the manufacturer. It is only when you go for a higher Tungsten Hand-held, that you will be able to use Microsoft Outlook 2007.

Take care.

Appropriate software for tungsten e2 palmOne

If you said you have the software (desktop), your doing it backwards. Run the desktop software by going to my pc and running the disc. The software will then ask you to plug in your E2 so it can register it. It will then synch and your in business. Had E2 for a very long time. Can tell you things that guy can do that would surprize you. Have everything but unit now.
