Question about Maytag Dryers
If it is an electric dryer it could be the connections for the cord at the back...it also could be a wire rubbed through somewhere...
Also as you said it could just be dirt in the heating element...
You will know when you find it if it is a wire problem, as the wires will be blackened...
Keep looking till you find it...
