Question about Nikon D90 Digital Camera with 18-105mm lens

1 Answer

Everytime I try to take a photo 'ERR' flashes on the display screen. I've formatted my memory card, cleaned my lense and checked everything. I don't seem to be able to fix it. Is there any other things I could try before taking it to get repairs?

I'm assuming you formatted the card in the camera. And you cleaned the contacts on the body and lens where they meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol. Have you gone into the menu and tried "reset"?

Err 99(Error Code). Removed battery and re-instaled. Still no image on display or Flash Card. Problem with my EOS Rebal 300 Digital Camera.

Seems to be related to the lens, is it fit to be used with this camera? disconnect the lens and try again.

I'm getting a r16 error on my D90

The "r16" in the display is not an error code. It is simply informing you of the number of exposures that can be held in the camera's internal high speed memory before shooting would have to stop while the D90 transfers the pictures to the memory card. If you held the shutter release, you could watch the r16 value decilne by one for each exposure (r15, r14, r13, etc.).

Page 256 of the D90 User's manual indeed shows the Err error code, and defines it as a "Camera Malfunction", "Release shutter. If error persists or appears frequently, consult Nikon-authorized service representative." The "err" error code is a generic error. The camera has detected a problem, but it doesn't know exacly what, similiar to the fEE code. The "err" code could be camera / lens contacts or it could be a circuit board or even shutter failure. You've already tried the common contact cleaning fix (that never seems to solve the problem) without any luck, so you might have to call Nikon Support and arrange for service.

Good luck!

May be you inserted a memory card formatted with your PC. Format the memory card using the Format function in the camera menu. Format function can be found in the setup menu of the camera.
If this does not work, try replacing the memory card.

Vikram, first of all take no more pictures with the memory card. You'll need to use recovery software to recover your photos. There are very many freeware options for your to choose (here's a short listing with reviews). You'll need to use your computer's card reader with this software. Now AFTER you've recovered your photo's, you'll need to initialize (format) the card in your camera (DON'T use your computer to initialize the card). This will erase the card, but it will also help prevent this instance from reoccurring. Look in your camera's menus for the format option.

nikon r09,r11, etc . it mean memory buffer of your camera. memory buffer is a temporary memory for your captured images before it store to memory card.
if r00 it mean, you can't take a picture, even 1 picture... that because the camera buffer memory is full.
the number of memory buffer will also drop if noise reduction on

Nikon d80 problem (err flashing with r09 in the lcd display)

I belive this isn't a fault but more to do with how you are using the camera. The r09 message is to do with the camera buffer and how many more pictures it can hold. You do have a memory card installed, right? The r09 is normally not an error, but simply an indicator of how many more pictures you can take in the current burst before the buffer fills. The number will vary according to the image quality and size settings.

My Canon is displaying - Err 99 what should I do?

This can mean a host of different problems but try these things to fix it:
  1. clean the lense contacts as poor conection between the camera and the lenses can cause this. Also clean the contacts on the body of the camera.  The contacts should be cleaned with a plastic eraser, but make sure it is clean before using it.
  2. Clean the battery contacts (on the battery)
  3. Change lenses and see if you have the same problem (does it only have this problem on one lense?)
  4. Make sure you have the lates firmware installed.
Don't swap lenses while the camera is writing to the memory card, lots of things like this can cause this error message. Also the flash can cause it.
Usually the lense is the culprit so make sure it is fully cleaned.
Cheers
