Per Canon:

Solution: Disconnect and Reconnect AC power adapter or power cord to the device and electrical source

Secure all Power Connections

  • Disconnect the AC Power Adapter or power cord from both the device and the electrical source.
  • Then reconnect it.
  • If you are still unable to obtain power to the device, try another power outlet.
  • If possible, try connecting power directly to a wall outlet (as opposed to using a surge protector or power strip...just as a troubleshooting measure).
If this does not work, have you tried a different outlet to ensure that the outlet isn't the issue? Also, when you press the POWER button, does the printer respond at all, or is it basically dead?

Please post back if you need further help, otherwise, thank you for using and rating FixYa!

As I indicated in my response to you, if the Canon solution didn't work and you needed further assistance, I would be happy to help. Canon's only other indicated solution was to take the printer for repair. Further, I picked up your issue and attempted to start helping when it had not been addressed by any other expert for 19 days!

Therefore, I don't understand why the solution is rated as "poor" without at least indicating that the solution did not fix the problem, and allowing us to help work through your problem as much as possible. Ratings play a major role in an expert's ranking and status, and I am still willing to help you check any possible issues. However, if there is a ranking, and the issue is closed without further communication, this basically eliminates the opportunity for us to help you out. Thank you for using FixYa.

Problem 5200 wont print

Hi, this problem can solved by doing the following:
1-Check your usb cables, printers, and all connections to the PC are working properly.
2-Make sure you install the latest driver for your printer from the internet.
3-If you install the same printer more than once, try to delete all printers and add 1 printer in the windows control panel >printers.
4-Reset the printer spooler service in the control panel>services(or local services in Windows 7). Find print spooler. Try to stop then start it again and make it automatically start.
5-If this does not work, try to reset the PC. If that doesn\'t work, try another computer
5-If the problem isn\'t resolved, check your printer for hardware issues.
Kind regards

No communication between computer and printer

There are a number of issues that could cause a communication problem with any USB printer (assuming it is turned on/has power). The most likely is a bad cable. After that, you need to check for a problem with the OS print spooler, a problem with the port (on either the computer or the printer), or a driver problem.

Replace the cable with a new one. Connect it to a different port on the computer. If you use a print server or a USB hub, try a direct connection.

Look at the list of what is printing. In Windows, open the printers control panel (click Start > Device and Printers or Printers and Faxes, depending on the OS). Then right-click on the printer and choose "See what's printing". Are several print jobs still in the queue? Try to clear these jobs by cancelling them. If you can't cancel them, you can force the print spooler to clear by stopping and restarting the service. In Windows, open the command prompt (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt (with Vista or Win7, right click and choose Run as Administrator)). Type "net stop spooler" without the quotes and followed by enter. Then type "net start spooler" again without the quotes and followed by enter. After you see the prompt, restart the computer. After the restart, wait a while before trying to print again. (Note: if you have a fax connected to the computer, you will see a message about the fax service being stopped after the first message. Click Y.)

If the printer status is unknown, check the device manage. Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System > Device Manager (in Win7). Right click on My Computer and select Properties then click on the Hardware tab for XP. Look for a yellow exclamation point in a triangle next to Lexmark. Unplug the USB data cable and then uninstall the Lexmark software. (A quick link is the Uninstall link in the Lexmark folder in the list of All Programs from the Start button.) Download the correct driver from Lexmark . Select the correct OS from the drop down menu. Install the software and then plug in the data cable when prompted. Alternatively, let Windows find the best driver by plugging the USB cable with the trouble-shooter. Right click on the appropriate line in the device manager. (This is not recommended with all-in-ones since Windows often only finds a printer driver and omits the scanner functions.)

While you are in the Device Manager, check for a similar yellow exclamation point or red x in a triangle in the section marked Universal Serial Bus. Try to update the driver for the USB controller (again you can right click on this).

Next try to reset the printer by removing the data cable and then unplugging the power cord from the printer. Then unplug the power cord from the outlet. Wait a few minutes (if possible, move to a new outlet). Then reconnect the power cord and then the data cable. Turn on the printer if it doesn't come on. Try printing.

If possible, try installing the printer on another computer. If the printer still doesn't work, the USB port on the printer is probably bad. If it is under warranty, contact Lexmark. Otherwise, it may be better to replace the printer instead of repairing it.

I hope this helps.

My x4650 doesnt comunicate with my laptop when I plug in usb lead

Make sure the USB cable is properly inserted behind your printer in the USB port. You may try to unplug then replug the cable to ensure proper connection (forgive me for suggesting this but I have encountered quite a number of instances where the cable was not properly inserted).
It could also be a Print Spooler issue. Ensure that the spooler service is running. On your computer, go to Start menu > Run > type Services.msc > hit OK or enter. Scroll through the Services items and look for Print Spooler. Right-click on the item and select Start (if item is currently on Stop). You may also select Restart. Once the service is running, try to continue with the installation.
Should you still need assistance, please leave a comment to my response and I'll get back to you. Should this resolves your problem, your rating will be greatly appreciated.

Will not print, says printer busy

There could be some print jobs stuck in the queue. Please follow steps below to fix the problem:

1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET STOP SPOOLER" (this will stop the print spooler service)

2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.

3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET START SPOOLER" (this will restart the print spooler service)

4. Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.

Try to print again.

If problem continues, disconnect your printer USB cable from your computer. For Windows OS, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. Delete the Lexmark print object. Reboot pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect the USB cable into your computer. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection before sending a new print job.

If that doesn't help, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

Check that the printer cable is connected properly to your computer and printer.
If they are ok I need to know what printer you have as alot of HP printers are having formatter board problems that will cause this.
If the cables are ok and it is not a HP printer, or even if it is, you need to try re-installing the printer driver. Delete your old driver and install new driver.

According to your problem first check that you have installed the driver properly or reinstall the driver. Check the USB cable of the printer. Replace the cable. Turn the printer off before installing the driver. Turn it on again while the driver installation wizard will ask to connect the printer. After installation reboot the printer and system both.
