Question about Maytag MDBH945AWW / MDBH945AWQ / MDBH945AWB Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

I posted a question about my Maytag Dishwashere MDBH945AWW not starting, all lights function, and got a response from you seen here in this thread http://www.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?thid=6123266&prdid=519913 I was checking the water inlet valve for a clog and have determined with a meter that there is only 25 volts going to the water inlet valve. I notice a blue wire goes to the float switch which I already checked, there are 2 black wires one of which runs towards the back and cant see where it goes, and the other black wire goes up through the door I would guess to the control panel. Do you think the control board is bad? If all panel lights work does it mean the control board is okay?

Hi,
No, the lights can be working and a relay on the board can still be bad. These things can be very difficult even for a pro to trouble shoot as there can be many things that possibly can cause a unit not to start.
From what you are saying the board could well be your problem but you may want to pull the dishwasher so that you can follow the black wires and check the voltage on it. Or pull the panel off so you can check to see if power is coming out of the control board. It may be worth just a bit more investigating..

I have a 4 year old Maytag MDBH945AWW and the panel lights come on and I can select cycles... but the dishwasher wont start. I tried holding the start cancel button, tried turning the breaker off for a...

What you need to do is read for continuity and power across the door latch switch. (2 white wires) AND 2 Black wires Both wires must read continuty at the control panel connectors to the power source terminals for the unit to start. Since the control panel lights up I have to assume that the black wire from the door switch has 120VAC on it.

There is also a turbidity sensor that can cause this: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=4114286&image=1

I an not telling you to change parts. You really need to use a meter and follow 120VAC power to find out where it stops when it should be passing through a component.

If you can interpet this diagram....
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/frame_diagram.aspx?diagram_id=1318099&pkw_=basket&model_id=5177084&NewWindow=1

I do not think at this point you need a control panel. It is possible but... the door switch and the thermistor will prevent the unit from starting.

This is ONE source for replacement parts.

There are numerous parts sources on line and locally.

Don't give up on your dishwasher too soon. 4 years is about mid life for your dishwasher.

Maytag dishwasher mdbh945aww3 does not start washing. the only button that seems to work is the start/cancel and all it does is turn on all the lights.

you have to get the touch pad replaced. my worked for 11 month, got it replaced (3 weeks to get the part), worked for 1.5 month and broke again out of warranty. time to get a new dishwasher and extended warranty. maytag is total c$%p. Everything is made in Mexico. I think even China makes a better product. WOW did I say that?!?!

About the only things that move in the cabinet other than the water pump is the spray arms. The lower arm should be screwed down fairly tightly (plastic screw), but the upper arm is held in place with a plastic friction plug--it tends to wobble more. Spin both arms by hand to see if either hits something (have the drawers in). The lower arm has metal clips on the ends which may be coming loose. They are just clipped onto the arm edges. Hope this helps!

Will not start

I have the same problem and it turns out that it is the front panel touch pad that cost $185 for the part. I plan to just buy a new washer.

"unlock" the machine by pressing on '3' and holding for a few seconds. Thats what it says on the back of my dishwasher which is the exact same model.
