SOURCE: hi, I have a Sony

The light turns red to signal the fact that the power source goes in protected mode - its safety system has detected a short on one of its outputs. So yes, it could be a problem with the power source itself - some of its filtering capacitors have aged and are now drawing a lot of current thru themselves. But it's much more likely that the problem is somewhere else - in your case the most probable fault is the Y-sus board, since the fault appears when it's time to start the plasma panel.

SOURCE: How to connect Sony FWD-50PX3 to cable box

that depends on the cable box you have.

Your best option is a box with a composite output - that is 5 cables (red, green, blue for video plus red and white for audio) that connect to corresponding 5 holes at the back of the TV.

This is called "Component" signal and is an equivalent in quality to HDMI.

If your box doesn't have that you're stuck with composite cable, which is just 3 cables - yellow for image and same red and white for audio; composite signal does NOT carry high-definition information, though.

It's not the cable that matters, it's the signal carried through it that has the limitation.

Hope this helps.

My Sony Bravia TV - Model #: kdl-52z5100 no longer powers on. There's a red light that blinks twice whenever I attempt to power it on. Please help

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

Flicker screen

If any buffer board is faulty, this kind of fault can occur. Might have a panel fault too. It will be best to contact any service technician, to make it confirm. If you wish to get more details, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic / Time slide, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name/model number/IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.

No picture or sound on Sony TV

If you can update this with the model number, I can verify the problem and the typical solutions. While the 2 blink scenerio is often the same for many models, there are exceptions. Please post the model number.

Thanks,
Dan

Sony 2167 No power on

I have not worked on your particular model. But, I have serviced many TV sets over the years. My answer will ge generic.

Check all the capacitors in the horizontal output stage and power supply areas for high ESR. All the caps that are out of spec must be changed.

The high voltage multiplier & flyback can also cause the fault you are having.

You have to consider that the DC voltages are not the only important spec that has to be met. There are also many power drive signals that work with reactive devices. If there is any defect in the critical areas there will be failures.
