Assuming you mean JVM1870 you can press the Options pad repeatedly until something about "Idioma" (language) appears, then press 1 for English.

You can download a free GE / Hotpoint owner's manual here.

Another first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again. It may default to English.

How to I reset the language back to English

Press the Settings or Options button. Each time you press it, you will get a different option (beep tones, 12/24 hour clock, and somewhere in there, language). Look for something that looks like language and select English (or Ingles). Then press Start or Stop or Cancel.

My microwave GE model # JVM1440WH04 spacemaker has no heat coming out of it. My husband heated microwave lasagna in it last, everything works except for the heat, any solutions?

Push the microwave door tightly closed. The computer will not start cooking until the door is closed for safety reasons. Some models of microwave will give a warning on the screen if the door is open.
2

Ensure you have programmed a heat setting, entered a cooking time and pressed the "Start" button on the microwave's keypad. Check that the microwave is not set to "Defrost" mode.
3

Unplug the microwave and wait for one minute. This measure will reset the microwave's internal computer if it has frozen or scrambled. Plug the microwave back in and try again.
4

Ensure the keypad lock mode is inactive. Most microwave ovens have a lockout feature that prevents children from starting the microwave while unsupervised. Lockout mode is usually deactivated by holding down the button that bears a padlock symbol

I have a GE Profile Spacemaker PVM 2070 SMSS and the button pad needs to be replaced for the vent and lights. Can this part be purchased?

Sadly on the 2070-series models, GE does not make separate parts available for the controller.

Only the control panel subassembly is available, and these range from a few hundred to several hundred dollars, depending on your full model number.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

My PVM 1870 GE microwave doesn't cook anymore. I received a temp sensor error message once and it quit heating. The transformer and capacitor check good. I believe the magnatron is also good. Any...

If the cook light is working and there is power to the transformer, DON'T try to measure the secodary voltage, most meters do not read that high.
You say the capacitor is OK then there is nothing else but the magnetron to suspect.
Change the magnetron if all else is OK.

GE Microwave DEMO MODE

I just bought a condo with a GE Spacemaker Mod# JVM1860SD
that was stuck in demo mode. (This mod# has been replaced by the JVM1870*** series)

I called GE twice in two days, and finally got someone who had the solution (and it worked):

  1. Unplug the unit for at least 30 seconds
  2. Plug the unit back in DO NOT SET THE CLOCK
  3. While the unit is still "booting up" and the display screen is lit with gibberish, HOLD THE POWER LEVEL AND THE ZERO BUTTON for at least 5 seconds.
  4. After 5 seconds, the screen will display "demo mode off"
It messed me up at first because the power level and zero pads don't beep when the unit is booting up... but it worked.
- Again, this is for the GE Spacemaker 1860-1870 series models only - The women who gave me instructions said she had different demo mode unlock methods for the 1400, 3670, 2070 etc... so call GE if you have a different model.
P.S. my model looks like this - the keypad setup is key http://products.geappliances.com/ApplProducts/Dispatcher?REQUEST=SPECPAGE&SKU=JVM1870SK&SITEID=GEA
