Hello, i have a camera "JVC GR-DX25EK" and keep showing "lens cap" but the cap is not on the lens < the play function as the other ones are ok , but no live picture :( !! How to fix it ? thanks

Hi.

The lens cap problem, common on JVC is caused by a defective CCD sensor. The CCD sensor is the chip that captures light to generate the digital picture. The problem is fixed replacing the CCD sensor.

There is a recall on a number of models, even if your model number is not listed, call JVC and insist to get free repair. If JVC does not cover the repair, before proceeding you can get a quote from third party repair here:Repair.

Here the recall, from JVC:

JVC has received reports that in certain circumstances, a small quantity of units of the models listed below, may, while in the camera mode, show no picture, a distorted picture and/or display "LENS CAP" even though the lens cap is removed. We have identified the cause as a failure of the CCD Image Sensor. Until 31st December 2009, JVC will cover the cost of repairs of units exhibiting these symptoms. Please note the failure of other components may give symptoms that are similar to those caused by a faulty CCD Image Sensor, however this offer extends only to failure of the CCD Image Sensor. Please also note that this offer does not cover any additional faults that may be found during examination of the unit.
If your product is within the twelve month manufacturer's warranty, please return it to your retailer who will arrange a repair under the terms and conditions of the warranty.

My JVC GR - D290 says that the lens cap is on when the lens cap is off


Open and close it a few times. Maybe tap the side a little bit as the lens cap switch may be sticking.

Camera worked great until last month!


OK, it is known problem of CCD Imager chip failure in JVC GR-D33 camcorder and ccd imager will be replaced to get live view for recording, lens cap message will disappear as well.
JVC will repair your camcorder free of cost for same problem, click JVC CCD Imager Support for details.

Camcorder keeps asking me to remove lens cap


Contact JVC, they fix this error FREE. They fixed my GRD-50. It's a common fault with lots of them. Give it a go. Good luck.

Camcorder says lens cap is on when its not


This is problem of bad CCD Imager in your JVC GR-D32U model. This part need to be replaced.
JVC offers Free of Cost repair for such problem in same model cameras.

its a problem with the ccd image sensor, i had exact same problem with mine!! not to worry though JVC offering free repair, must be a big problem.

JVC GR-DX25EK camcorder


JVC has issued a notice on many models that bring up a "lens cap" error. However, the GR-DX25EK is not included. The model you have posted on its page(GR-DX95) is though. This problem is still very common with models that aren't on the said list, given that and the fact that your model is from the same series, you might get some consideration from JVC.
