There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use of a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the switch on the side of the card, or the switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.

I have increased RAM from 2 to 4GB and installed Widows 7 64 bit. Computer properties show RAM 4GB 2.75GB usable. 1282MB reserved. How do I make more RAM usable?

It's the shared memory for the Integrated graphics card, your RAM shares memory to the graphics card, and you are using a lot. If you want more memory, enter BIOS and there should be something about shared memory, and put it at 256 MB or so.

Does it format the card automatically or how does it show the user, that the card is not usable.

What make and model camera? What type and size memory card?

Most cameras will not automatically format the memory card.

I have been using my memory card for a while now, all of a sudden i just noticed i cant use it any longer.. its saying memory card not installed. i tried formatting with the phone but it says memory card...

Memory storage devices have a limited lifespan. They will typically fail under extended or heavy usage, and they are virtually impossible to restore once they have failed.

Fortunately, they are now quite inexpensive to replace! If the memory card will no longer format, it cannot again be made usable. SORRY :(

Given their proclivity to fail suddenly, always make sure you back-up your memory card data on a computer. When they show ANY signs of failure (lost files, retrieval errors, saving errors, etc.), replace.

My camera is saying "memory

The only thing you can attempt is format the card, this will erase all data (all photo's) from the card and hopefully reset the card so it is usable. The only other option is replace the card with the identical one that you have.

Asking for formating memory card, after formating says problem with memory card

Usually the process of formatting memory cards wipes off all information on a memory card. If after formatting the cards shows problem with memory card then the memory card has bad sectors which make the card no longer usable.
Bad sectors in a memory card are usually caused by poor storage of information and viruses. Best solution will be to replace the card but if not connect the card to a PC and defragment this will seperate the bad sectors from the good ones. Although you will not have full use of the card size.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Try to start my computer but tower keeps on beeping and monitor keeps saying going to sleep. What could be the problem?

Hi,

Probable reason for the beeping sound are:
  • defective, dirty or faulty seated memory sticks; clean, re-seat or replace (most likely);
  • defective, dirty or faulty seated video card; clean, re-seat or replace (likely);
  • corrupted BIOS; flash or replace motherboard (least likely).
The monitor going into sleep mode is because it does not sense any usable video signal from the computer.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
