Question about Kenwood KDC-HD942U

Open Question

I have a Kenwood KDC-HD942U car radio that has started rebooting itself every few seconds. I have been told that the problem has been caused by the spearker wirinig in my 1978 Mercedes 300D that has a particular ground setup. Is there a replaceable part that I have fried in this radio that I can get and install myself?

SOURCE: KENWOOD KDC-MP335

Yes, you can. It took me almost a month and about 70 dollars wasted to lfigure it out though. All you need is the the audio jack. Its a simple chord that runs to your aux jack in the back of your head unit. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ACTIVATED THE AUXILLARY CONTROLS ON THE CD PLAYER. YOU DO THIS FROM THE MENU SCREEN. The chord cost like five dollars at wal-mart.

SOURCE: can not find the code for my kenwood kdc-516s

Same problem, different rig. Bought a bronco with a Kenwood KDC 516s in it, Guy had put a new optima battery in it CODE_ _ _ _  appeared and he has no clue what the "code" is. I have no "remote" and no desire to buy a "remote" for a #$%@ car stereo. Is there any way for me to re-set the code w/out the expense of a remote or a fee from a tech?? the musically challenged, Brew
P.S. The owners manual under the "accessory" section  mentions the KDC x617/v-6017 remotes but fails to mention a remote for the 516s??

I would start by disconnecting the radio and hooking it up right, the power should go through the ignition switch. So that when you turn the car off the radio will go off and to hear it on again you have to turn the key to accessory or start it.That might take care of a few of your problems.

Kenwood KDC 241 SA car radio 'Protect'.

you could have a shorted speaker wire, a blown speaker; or the output ic in the deck itself could be bad.

I have a Kenwood car stereo KDC - MP4033 and the word "Protect" is flashing and i can't get it to work, no sound or stereo

check your speakers and speaker wires for shorts, and then disconnect power to the radio for a few seconds and reconnect it.

It turns off when in high volume

a few things...your speakers may not be a perfect match for the unit. at high volume where the radio starts to distort there is an internal protection circuit that protects the radio...it's kicking in.
solution.  Buy a power amp and take the load off of the radio.

Kenwood new sterio shuts off when turning up volume

You may have a short in a speaker. Check to see that the wire terminals on the speaker itself aren't touching any metal. Even 1 terminal touching metal will cause issues. Hope this helps.
