Question about PC Desktops

2 Answers

I have roxio digital mediaplus v7.2 and free AVG upgrade to v8.0 fails due to an apparent bug in my roxio s/w. But when I use roxio itself to search for updates it reports no updates available, though roxio website is full of options. I'm not familiar with roxio, never used it. PC was rebuilt after kids on-line games killed it, and we used Nero before. I don't know how to sort out this apparent problem with roxio - any ideas ?

I know a lot of OEM vista machines that are running this software combination and get a similar error. As far as I can tell, Roxio will not fix this bug unless you have version 8 or later. Unfortunately, while switching to another product is not bad advice, if you want to fix this issue the only other alternative would probably be to omit Roxio files and directories from scans or else ignore it and hope nothing happens. I ignored it and I am still running both fine.

I don't suggest you upgrade though, I would never spend money on Roxio.

Can you tell me what conflicts there are between Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 and Zone Alarm fire wall or AVG anti-virus. When I tried to install Creator 10, the installation hung up on me. I need to know...

I think zonealarm could be your problem. It may be blocking Roxio. You could try turning ZA off untill you reinstall roxio. If that does not work may i suggest these links below that should be of help. All of which are FREE!!!

Hi my name is maria leal and i'am having problems trying to activate my mcafee anti virus that came with a hp 550 laptop from your deal with 3 G hutchison uk ltd and i was wonder if you can help me

Thats True, its probably a trial, but heres some actual help.

Remove Mcaffe all together, un-install that crappy software, never think about it again. It uses way to much resources from your computer and it bugs you every mintute with something.

Heres the good part.

Go to GRISOFT.COM
in the search field at the top, do a search for AVG FREE
select the first link that says AVG FREE EDITION FOR WINXP/VISTA.

Scroll down and look to the left next to the Check marks.

Slect the download for the free version.

when the screen opens, click the download version 8.0 and when its done, install it and run the updates.

Its all easily installed and requires little on your part. Its a completely Free with no adds or junk, Anti virus.

I have used them for 8 years and have never regreated it.

They design Network Server anti Virus software but have the free version for personal computer. Its great and it runs smooth and discreet in the taskbar. Any other questions, let me know.

heres the direct link if it makes it easier.

Good luck and enjoy.

Roxio easy cd & dvd creator will not install on windows vista

That's very true of a lot of software. You need to buy a later version that is Vista compatible. If you purchased your program from Roxio, they might offer some kind of upgrade price. There are also several free open-source CD/DVD burner programs available for download that you could look into. A Google search will help you locate some possibilities.

I bought a new HP 2133 mini note pc which has Windows Vista on it. I have been trying to download the avgfree 8.0 antivirus program. It keeps telling me that one error is occuring. It says Action failed...

Try this link to download it...

http://free.avg.com/ww.download?prd=afe

This maybe the same link you have already tried. If it is, just do a google search for AVG free, it's available from several other places.

You also need to download a patch for Vista and AVG to work together, if you go to this link ...

http://www.avg.co.uk/uk.faq.num-1066#faq_1066

You can download the patch from microsoft via AVG website, you need to select FAQ number 1177 then choose the download according to your OS ie 32bit or 64bit.

Hope this helps.

I seem to have a conflict between Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 and some other programme (maybe IE6). When I try to open VideoWave it shuts down wirth error exception message in some memory address.

The Roxio shipped with Dell system has bugs in them since they are shipped hence cannot be repaired. you need to uninstall Roxio and install IE7.

For problems with Roxio Refer the link
