First of all u have to re install windows( operating system)
before inserting the windows cd u have to plug an external keybord and mouse and start the system.
boot from cd and continue.
the laptop keybord and mouse could be unusable anymore.

May have virus or corrupt driver, run your anti virus and try reloading divers for mouse and touch pad, you may have to use system restore to an earlier date when thins were working OK.

Both my keyboard and touchpad are not working. What do I do?

Did you try a system restore to bring the computer back in time before this happened? you mentioned recovery, did you do a full recovery of windows ? "fresh install" If you have a backup disc the hard drive needs to be completely reformated before the backup disc is used, because it looks like a virus got into your system, run a deep or full scan to find out, go to www.download.com Type: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware run a full scan to see what it finds, "free software"

Laptop Touch Pad will not work

if you plug usb keyboard onto your laptop it will probably turn the touch pad off.
If no other keyboard is attached there is usually a switch to turn off the touch pad.
also if you attach a mouse this may disable the touchpad so you dont move the mouse pointer when you are typing

My keyboard and touch pad isnt working on my laptop. i plugged a mouse in my usb and its moving.. but my keypad isnt working... my caps lock is lit up..i tried pressing it to turn it off but it didnt...

If your operating system is Xp / vista reimage your unit by hit F11 on started up & Hp splash screen - select advanced - select full destructive recovery - you have corrupted your device controler for human interface devices - like your k/board & mouse - there is no way to reinstall the required dll's so full recovery is required.

Touch pad not working

If Windows service pack 1 - doesnot all recent drivers and will not recognize your touch pad and even keyboard.
Try to boot on Safemode.
Just press on F8 when your start your computer - and connect an usb mouse and try to install the touch pad drive manually.
Then boot on normal mode and install your other drivers..
It is recommended to update quickly your os to Service pack 2 or 3 for best performance of your computer.

Touch pad failed.

Look along the top of the keyboard for an "f key" that shows a "touch pad" icon, IF you see it, press the "function key" (along the bottom of the keyboard) PLUS at the same time the "f key" (that you found along the top) and that should "toggle" the touch pad back on....
Also, IF you plug in a USB mouse that will allow you to move the cursor around--but the USB mouse doesn't fix your touch pad problem.
Hope this helps.
