just say my
HP Compaq 6720s Notebook PC (up to 9 years old) THIS IS a BSOD the blue screens of ***** ! infamous. then.
and if XP or VISTA operating system.?
BSOD'S are usually
1: Virus infections.
2: bad HDD or BAD RAM.

the BSOD means, the OS code in memory was corrupted in some way, that is what it means. cause is a whole other matter.

Boot to BIOS and run the memory diagnostic, yet.
Fixing BSODs can be a long hard job.
one can boot to the unstated OS and reinstall the OS. FRESH.
see if that works.
or run a boot LIVE CD there are many to try, as a test.
Linux live CD or microsoft XP ,W7/w8/w10 PE live cds' to test the system. All technicians have this so they can do tests.
lacking that , get the the PC serviced?

or run less memory in the hope that 1 stick is bad... try them 1 by one, is best. if only one, oh boy, hard to buy them now.
Lots of reasons for BSOD's
GOOD that, and see the 10,000,000 hits.
ouch

My acer t180 won't start up in normal mode i have just intalled the new norton onto it i have 1gb of ram but it starts in safemode....do i need more ram.....?

1. You may have to go into "safe mode" 1st and then start you pc in normal mode.
2. if you have a virus you may not be able to recover with the Norton anti virus.
3. There is a free software that you can try called "Ccleaner" this may restore you to the boot screen. A google search will find the site.
4. You may have to "format" the drive and reinstall your Operating System.
I hope this helps.

Hi there, please restart your laptop when its booting press F8 key . You will find few option asking for selection. Select that by using up/down arrow key. Select " Last know good configuration" & press Enter. Next page asking for selecting operating system, for example: windows vista or Windows XP etc. Just select the operating system & press Enter again. ( Hope your laptop showing only one operating system ). Your laptop will start normally. After the if you seen the screen dark then press FN+Right arrow in key board(>). When you press FN + ( < ) or ( >) key that's time its working for brightness controlling for screen. Now if all well then fine other wise please let me know .
Another suggestion is run your Acer driver DVD for installing Display drivers. When finish restart your laptop and watch whats going. If no success then format the Operating system & reinstall again.
After these two things if the same things happened then straight forward format your OS and install it again. Because your OS corrupted by Virus.

Thanks & waiting for your feedback

Laptop shows only 4gb ram & 300 gb hdd

This is the limitation of a 32 bit (x86) Operating System. A 32 bit OS can detect upto 3GB RAM only.

You may either try installing the x64 Bit of XP Operating System or Vista Service Pack 1 or 2 for 32 bit Vista Operation System to resolve the issue.

After installing the SP 1 or 2 of the Vista OS in the Computer, the OS will detect 4GB RAM.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boot up

Hi Jen05.

When the computer boots, if it asks for an O.S.
(operating system) hilghlight "Windows Vista" and press enter.

If it asks whether to run Windows Vista or something like:
"Windows Recovery Console (reccomended)", select Windows Recovery Console. Follow the steps until it asks if you wish to run System Restore. Click the appropriate response that basically denies this suggestion. Let it go through the steps (you may need to press "Next").

Once it is done, restart Windows as you normally would.
If the problem persists, try the following:

When the computer boots, if it asks for an O.S.
(operating system) hilghlight "Windows Vista" and press F8.

Now scroll down to something along the lines of:
"Safe mode - core drivers only" and press enter.

When it loads the desktop, it is normal for there to be incorrect graphics, missing desktop image, etc.

Now virus scan the entire computer with every anti-virus and spyware software you have. Fix problems found with the programs as needed. Now reboot the PC as you normally would.

If it STILL doesn't boot correctly, or at all, please say so;
I am willing to provide all my knowlege to help as much as I can.
