Question about ASUS A7V266-C (A7V266-C W/A) Motherboard

Open Question

Green pwrLED is not ON even the PSU is plugged in and and main switch turnd on! I already tried another PSU and problem remained the same, so i excluded PSU as one of the reasons of the malfunction. I just bought new case for my PC, and i repacked all the components including mobo. I old case all was working fine... i had completely healthy PC and system. pwrLED was ON first time I put the power cord into PSU on the new case as well, but as I were unable to find proper pins for pwr swich on the front panel i plugged out and plugged in that cord for like few time. After that LED wont light anymore! It happened that it goes light for like second and then go off again. Did i fried something? Pls help.

I manage to fix the problem. It was short circuit because i mounted the mobo directly on the case metal and i believe because mobo is under the voltage it somehow interfered with the metal and disabled it to work properly. All is good now

SOURCE: K8NGM2 Mother Wont Power Up

I've seen situations similar to yours several times and they've always been a bad CPU.  Since you tried a new video card it's not that, I would suggest a new CPU.  Check on ebay, you can usually find used one's on there.

SOURCE: Front panel connections

You can download the complete user manual in English from the manufacturer's website at this link:)

http://support.asus.com/download/download_item_4.aspx?product=1&model=P4B533&SLanguage=en-us&os=17

The front panel connector pinout is on page 2-33, or page 59 in the PDF file. You should have mor ethan enough information to make all the connections you need.

check first the psu unplugging the Y-sus from it if the voltages stay on then you have a Y-sus failure if the psu keeps closing then its most likely the psu itself or your main board

Green light on my power supply stays lit after unplugging

Usually the light will time out after the capacitor has drained. Your machine is getting a bit old , your PSU may be the problem. If you plug it in and push the on/off button and it blinks, fans spin and shuts down, it's most likely the PSU. Look for a in-line fuse on the Motherboard, if blown, replace. Look at the motherboard closely for damaged components, capacitors, etc.

LOL... If you haven't already fried your motherboard by using your modified PSU (And that's a big IF), then you need to buy a new PSU with similar specs and connection plugs (ie. a 24pin main) as the original PSU that came with the PC.

You should try another power supply or just use a power supply tester on it. The tester I only like $10. Most likely the motherboard itself is bad.

In my experience you may need to replace the case but if you feel up to the challenge you can clean the contact headers on the MOBO for the PW LED and try reseting the CMOS for the bios.

My computer wont turn on

take out the psu completely from the cpu/tower, plug in the power cord,if there is a switch on the psu turn it on, next locate the main power connector (24pin) and find green wire, take a piece of wire and insert it into the green wire connector, next touch the other end of the wire to the psu outer case or a black wire on the main connector,if all is well the psu will turn on,if you have a dc voltage tester check the voltages on the red and black wires on molex connector...5vdc,yellow and black...12vdc.if ok look at the main board and inspect the capacitors to see if they are swollen, if ok
replace psu and disconnect hdd,cd/dvd,floppy ect from main board only leave memory, processor and video, power on if ok shut off and reconnect hdd, power on, if ok shutoff and connect floppy, if ok power off and connect cd/dvd drive.during this testing you will know what is bad.let me know how it turns out.email; arjoon.ken@gmail.com
