SOURCE: mouse pad has frozen on

Perhaps the driver software it is corrupted. reinstall its driver software. if you can't use the keyboard, use a usb mouse for the operation. if the problem still exists then maybe your touchpad is faulty, please check it. let me know if it works or not.

Locked and Frozen mean two different things to me.

Frozen means the computer is stalling or hanging while doing something either while booting up or after windows has booted all the way.

Locked means a password needs to be entered to unlock and gain access.

well the touchpad can be frozen for many resons, primary reasons could be.

1. the compter is hung in other words it needs to reeboot.
2. the touchpad has spoiled, if your laptop is under warranty please visit the nearest toshiba service center.
3.Yes, an external mouse would work but please check if you have a ps/2 port for regular mouses or otherwise please buy a wireless mouse they arent expensive now a days but very convineint.

Frozen mouse with a touch pad laptop computer

Many laptops have a button, usually located right above the touchpad, that disables the touchpad.

And there may be drivers that need to be loaded for some touchpads to operate properly, in case you've reinstalled the OS.
