If the compressor starts and runs check the run capacitor for visual signs such as bulging of the casing or oil leakage which would indicate a bad run capacitor. A bad run capacitor will cause the compressor current draw to be above normal resulting in the overload protector tripping. If the compressor Hums then clicks the compressor is bad.

The overheating & squeaking may be a result of a blockage in the exhaust hose. Or the exhaust hose has to much of a downward slope. Also, try cleaning the air intake filter. It may be clogged.

Sounds like the compressor may be overheating. You need to check the outdoor condenser coil it may be stopped up with dirt, in turn, overheating the compressor. The condenser coil looks like a radiator and the outdoor fan blows through it, in a sense releasing the hot air from the building. If the coil is stopped up, it can not release the heat. You can wash this coil out with a hose and sprayer. Just be careful not to get the motor wet and be sure to shut off power.

Apparently, the heater is overheating and the overload switch is shutting the heater element off.

FA 1300 NOT COOLING WELL. IT SEEMS TO KICK ON BUT THEN TURNS OFF AND IS NOT BLOWING COLD AIR

Hi there. If unit just starts to get cold then the compressor shuts off and if the compressor comes back on after 3 to 5 minutes, the system has a freon leak or the compressor is over heating.
If you are technically inclined, search for leaks using soapy water at all tubing connections.
For overheating compressor: Clean the condenser with compressed air or vacuum cleaner. If still overheating, start switch or start capacitor may be bad.
Thanks
Paul

Overheating and has "hot glue gun" smell

If the furnace is overheating you are smelling the insulation and the adhesive glue burning. Shut the furnace down and find out why it is overheating. Make sure the filters are clean. Check the blower motor and capacitor.
Good luck.....
