If you just installed a vid card with HDMI, sometimes the bios will recognize a new sound device, and disable the onboard sound, leaving only the HDMI audio, which is useless if not being used. if this is the case, go into your BIOS and set your sound device from "auto" to "enabled"

Tip

Midi files - no sound. Windows XP

If other formats of audio files like MP3 - Wav etc. can be played on the computer, but not MIDI files:

1. Open the "Controle panel".
2. Open "Sounds".
3. Under Tab - Volume - activate "Advanced".
4. If the "SW Synth" is Muted - remove the "V" in the box.
5 If the volume is set to minimum - increase the Volume.

You should nov be able to play Midifiles - with sound.
(above routine is for Windows XP)

Im trying to convert a QCP file to an MP3 file. I have a conversion program but it seems to be damaging the file, not full play time of the song/file and bad quality. how can I make this work?

Rename the file to .WAV (change the .QCP extension to .WAV) then you can either play the WAV file itself OR convert the WAV file (for free) with CDex.
