Yes, the hard disk has bad sectors on it - it's a mechanical problem , unfixable = the disk is dead. Because of that all the data on it is pretty much lost. There are companies that are specialized in recovering information from defective disks, but they have a very high price and they can't guarantee that they will recover your data in perfect condition.

Hello Zaenal,

Thanks for your posting.
It seems that this is the problem related to the HDD. You can verify by going to BIOS and run the HDD self test. It will take some time and give you the error if its faulty, If you found that its faulty then you need to purchase a new HDD and reformat that > install the OS which you want.
After that you can use this faulty HDD to connect as a USB connector to retrive the data.

Goodmorning.. This is naome from the Philippines. I got this problem with my PC it was infected with this worm/virus named jhowly-bee and I was wondering if my Hp Pavilion Entertainment PC can be converted...

You might try it, if it is already infected with the virus. Make sure it's not a virus that resides in memory or CMOS.

After that, you can format and reinstall with windows XP. There is a program call Driver Genius Professional which will search all the drivers for you.

If it doesn't work, just reinstall the OEM Vista.

Hope it helps.
God Bless You

Can I do a new restor with windows xp professional? My daughter is having problems with it and I thought it would work better than vista. I am not able to find the invoice but have the office max flyer...

Paul, I have been reformatting DV6000s to Vista and have had no issues....in fact Vista is running better on this platform than XP. Unfortunately, HP has decided to not release drivers for Windows 7. There are however plenty of great drivers on their website for Vista. I am currently installing Vista Ultimate and has been flawless. Just make sure you have at least 2 GB of ram for it to wotk as it should. If you really want XP again....go to the HP support site and under drivers, put in your model number of the laptop and pick the operating system you want....look through the drivers and see if they have the restore discs located there. They will mail you the restore discs for a fee. I ordered some three years ago and they charged me 20 dollars. Good luck
