There is a wire break on one side of the headphone and so you will need to check the continuity of the headphone.
The fault can be at the earpiece or the connecting jack from which it had come off.

We only get sound out of one side of the headset. How do I correct that problem??

If you are using a stereo headset on a sony tape transcriber, you will only get sound on one side. You will either need a mono headset or pick up a stereo to mono adapter at Radio Shack.

No sound in lift side

If the cord going into the headset or the headset itself has not been damaged, check the settings for the audio device on your computer to make sure the sound is still equally balanced between the left and right channels.

Good luck from Headsets Direct!

Make sure when you create a new track in your software, you are creating a Mono track, not a Stereo track.

Create a Mono channel and choose a single channel.

those wires are very fradgile and chaces are they have snapped inside the jacket
it happens mostly when you pull on the wire instead of the jack or the wire gets caught or stretched --is your jack fully inside the connecter? wiggle the wire and if it sound than it is the wire
