So when you say 'locate the overflow switch at the base of the dishwasher under the filter assembly' do you mean completely remove the base of the dishwasher to access this?

It is possible the door switch is not making contact.

Can you see any difference if you press the door lock firmly?

I noticed that this dishwasher has a few protection features but these are not documented in the user guide. I can see that it has a water level sensor and an overflow switch. See circuit diagram on last page of manual.

It is possible there is water leak and the overflow switch is triggered. You will have to locate the overflow switch at the base of the dishwasher under the filter assembly and see if water has leaked into the pump / motor housing. Refer page 10 of manual for description of anti-flooding system.

Hope this will help find the source of the problem.

To get to the components at the base of the dishwasher, you will have to take out the stainless steel shell which forms the tub. I don't have access to the actual assembly diagrams, but usually this is held together with the body by the screws that hold the door gasket at the bottom.

The other thing to check is if you are using the recommended anti-flood system suggested by the manufacturer when connecting to the inlet tap. If you are using the recommended device at the tap and a special hose, then if the hose is likely to cause a break in the circuit if cracked.

The leak may not be there but the electrical circuit with the anti-flood system may be playing up. Check the hose to make sure it is not broken. if you are using hot water connection then check if the temperature of water coming in is within specification.

Dishwasher cycle goes on and on like for an hour and a half, I turn it off !!! Model WQP12-BFE

if the sump is clogged up with with debris or the macerater is broken or the heater is not operating , the dishwasher will not operate properly and operate for a long time. Best off to call a reputable service company such as Sears.

Possibly an element or thermostat problem. The dishwasher rely's on the thermostat to tell it wether it can progress through the cycle or not.The washer will stay washing in the one spot until desired temperature is reached then the washer will progress on.

Hi jannewbery,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: You have looked in the manual under troubleshooting tips, but didn't find anything on the problem. The dishwasher goes into cycle, but during the wash cycle it stops, makes alarm and the wash and rinse ligts come on. And now you can't even find the product on this site.Westpoint Dishwasher WQP12-9240.
Thankyou Your dishwasher is stopping at stage 2 of the programme after beeping once. Quite often the detergent flap doesn't open. Am at your wits end and threatening to leave home!!!! The machine is less than a year old. PLEASE HELP!!!! Thank you.

Don't leave just yet. It sounds like a control problem. The d/w should still be under warranty if it is less than one year old. Use it before it runs out. I don't recomend this type of repair for the average homeowner.

Feel free contact me again!
Please give me a rating here at fixya before you sign off
Thank you,
