When u import videos from camcorder to PC they are mostly stored in the C: drive so u can search the PC using the search feature(Start/Search)....with the foll search string....(*.mpls)....(a star followed by a Dot and then the file ext of mpls)....
normaly mpls files cannot be read by Windows....
so the best is to use a video converter....to convert it to a mpeg1 file....the best i used is "Any Video Converter" or "WinAVI 9"
convert it to a mpeg1 file and create a Data DVD using any DVD Data Burn software to just copy the mpeg1 file to thate DVD...just make a DATA DVD....it will be read by any DVD player....
let me know if u need any more info...
pls leave a feedback and rating to this solution....
it will help me move to the next level of Gure here on Fixya....
regards...

Trying to download mini dv tape onto video

for to import from the Sony handy-cam you need a firewire cable ..not a rca..this one will only help you see the video on a tv ...but you will not be able to import them into computer ...
just ask at the store..and take the camera with you ..
another thing the camera may support even a usb cable that may be available in the box that it came with (infact the iLink cable should be there too )
so ..this is a link to a video I use to explain in detail the procedure to import fom minitape of sony handycam.
after have them into the windows movie maker..just drag them to the story board..(join them if you need) ..and save them by finishing movie...and save to computer ..in best for computer mode...after that just burn them to **** ..using Nero ..or if they are small enough to get into a cd ...use window feature for burning ..

You are importing your video I assume, not burning. What system are you using (ie. iMovie?)

Video memory full on camcord, how to burn it onto a dvd?

First be sure to have installed ImageMixer software that came with the camera. If you can't find the disc go here... http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DCRSR40&LOC=3 then select your operating system and then select imagemixer to download.

Step 1:
Place camera onto docking station, connect usb cable to computer, open camera door, turn on camera. Imagemixer should open automatically, if not open up imagemixer.

Transfer to Computer:
Select "Viewing and Editing", then select "handycam" tap, click on "▼" (arrow) facing down, then click "movies". Place a check mark on each movie you wish to move to the computer then click "Options" tab (lower left corner) and see where the movies will end up once you click "Import to computer".

Burn to DVD:
Be sure you have a DVD drive that can write to DVD's. Will have DVD R/RW on the face of the drive. Place a blank DVD into drive. Follow Step 1. Then click "One Touch DVD Burn" from the imagemixer menu. Follow any instructions on screen.

Or you can choose to use Windows Explorer and select the drive letter that is your camera's harddrive and move/copy/cut/paste files directly from this location to another.

Hard drive is full

The memory stick can only be used for taking still pictures (which are of terrible quality). Your only option for creating space on your hard drive is to delete items. Before that you can upload videos to your computer and/or burn them on DVDs. Sony actuallly has a DVD burner called DVDirect where you can burn DVDs without the use of a computer. I hope this helps.
