Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I own a computer with an integrated DVD player bought in Australia. I tend to play french and australian DVDs, however every time I switch between DVDs I have to change Region. I only have 2 changes left then apparently I won't be able to change region code any more, so I was wondering if I can do something about it ? The DVD player description is: HL-DT-ST BDD VDRW CA10N SCSI CdRom device. Thanks !

    Hi,

The computer is currently not online, would you have any solution which doesn't involve downloading or running a program ?

    Thanks.

There's no option from the Windows to change the Region, but there are few free tools available to unlock the Dvd region to "Free Region". If the operating system installed on the system is Windows Xp, please install this and restart your computer (click here). [if it's windows vista or windows 7, then skip].

Again download and install this utility (click here), now run the program, a windows similar to the below picture will open up:

Click "Control", select the "Region Free" and do whatever changes' needed and click "Start Player". [Note: If control is not available, then install the first tool i've mentioned].

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

It's not possible for now and you didn't mention the operating system, but I hope you are accessing this website from another computer, if so you can download and copy the files to the other computer.

Here's another tool (click here), simple and very small application, I've tested it on one of my system, it worked. You'll need to restart the computer. It will never work unless the system is restarted.

It's possible from the Registry entries in windows xp, win 2000 and win 97, but it's complicated and you'll need to create "Key" and "Binary Value" which is risky and may cause system failure if done incorrectly.

If you insist, i'll let you know after this.

    Once again good luck.

Is there a way to change the region code on a Sony HCD-S300 Please?

Unfortunately, you have a DVD player that is "Region Specific" and cannot be changed. Your system has a region code printed on the back of the unit and will only play DVDs that are labeled with identical region codes. DVDs labeled "ALL" will also play in this unit. If you try to play any other DVD, the message " Playing this disc is prohibited by area limits." will appear on the TV screen. Depending on the DVD, no region code indication may be labeled even though playing is prohibited by area limits.

PANASONIC DVD RECORDER DMR-ES35V

DVDs are region coded. This means that they will only play on a DVD player from the region the DVD was produced to be watched in. For example, an Australian DVD is Region 4. It will only play on a Region 4 player. If you try to play it on a player that is set for a different region, it will probably not play. One way around this is to get hold of a multi region player. These are widely available. Alternatively, you should be able to watch the DVD on your computer, although you may need some region free software if your computer's dvd player has been locked. Usually computer DVD players will allow you to play DVDs from any region a few times and then they will lock to a particular Region Code. If you are in North America, you will need a PAL player. The only other thing you may be able to do is to unlock your existing player to convert it to region free. Many DVD players can be unlocked but you would need to find the unlock information for your paticular player. Hope this helps....

Looking for the regional code for a Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD/VCR combo in Australia and a Panasonic DMR-ES30V DVD/VCR combo. Can you please tell me how you put the code in. Thanks

Region codes are preset in the DVD unit. DVDs are encoded with a region code and are only playable if the DVD player is programmed with the same code as the DVD itself. If you want to play Australian DVDs, you will want to use code 4. There are 9 codes. Check below to find out what region each code is for:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code

You usually may only change a region code 3 times before it becomes permanent. You need to enter the menu-setup options in your DVD player and you'll want to look for "region code".

Australian dvd doesnt play on my dvd player

America makes it hard for any of us to view CD's from other regions. I've had to pay out to have videos and DVD's converted. Other options are playing them on your computer dvd with software that will play different regions. Go to New Zealand or Australia and buy yourself a player that will play other regions. Other countries cater for international viewing.

Dvd region codes

Try this (for a LH-T360SE)

Open disk tray and press 0000, a two line menu appears with "Edit Region _" and "Region Code:x" put in required region (presumably 0) and press enter. Region Code:0 appears. power off and enjoy.

region code 0 is No region restrictions.
