First make sure that you have the correct seal. Then when you install it make sure that th graphite and the ceramic face each other. If it is a 1000 seal when you set the graphite side use a 1" PVC coupling to press it in place. If you don't have even pressure you will crack the graphite. Good luck.

Xp 2 wet end leaking

Probably seals are worn behind the impeller.
It is recommended to replace the pump motor as well as the wet end. Be sure to get a pump with same 1.5HP, frame size (48 or 56), pipe size (2" or 3") and an XP2e wet end (replaces the XP2).

Option 2 is to replace the XP2 wet end with the XP2e ($60-$80). Make sure the shaft is not rusted to assure a good seal.
If you want to replace the seals (online $7-$25), you'll have to remove the wet end and then the impeller which may be difficult. I just figured out how to do this. See "http://www.fixya.com/support/t6782638-remove_impeller_aquaflo". Again, check the shaft for rust.

Spa motor is leaking

Hi,
This is something you can do on your own.
The leak is either coming from the shaft seals or from the volute-face plate O-ring.
Most likely it is the shaft seals. You'll need to know the brand of the wet end (pump housing) to get the right seal, the motor manufacture doesn't help.

Only will run when squirting gas in carburator.I have replaced carb plug air cleaner end fuel filter.Taken to repair shop, they say something internal.SO what?

Could be a massive air leak, possibly the crank seal has fallen out, or the cylinder base gasket has blown out, remove the flywheel and check the crank seal behind, remove the clutch, sprocket and oil pump and inspect the crank seal on this side,if they have fallen out, or are very wet, replace them, there are kits available to blank off the inlet and exhaust so as to put a pressure into the crankcase to quickly show where the leak is.

Leaking oil on right side of motor.

The crankshaft oils seals are known to leak after approx 100,000 miles. The Harmonic Balancer (fan belt pulley) end of the engine will have lots of oil and road grit around the oil pan, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump and other area in the engine bay due to wind spread. This seal can be replace without removing the engine. Remove the harmonic balancer bolt and use a pulley puller. If the seal mating surface is grooved replace the balancer too or the new seal will fail soon.

The transmission "bell housing" will weep oil and or trans fluid if the rear crankshaft seal or the transmission seal develops a leak. This seal is much larger than the front seal so it lasts longer and need replacing less often. The transmission will need to be removed from the car to reach these seals.

The oil pan is sealed with silicone engine sealant and will dry out and leak also. Sometimes the leak looks like it is the front or rear seal (pulley or transmission end of engine) but it may be the oil pan leaking and dripping into the pressure plate inspection plate or the pulley. The oil pan can be removed and resealed without removing the engine or transmission but it is a little tricky. Dropping the engine's under brace and exhaust pipe is recommended. Additional engine/transmission support is needed to do that.

While you are under the car look near the oil filter. Above and forward (toward the fan belt is forward) and see if there is oil dripping from the oil pressure sending unit wire. It will leak into the electrical connector. Squeeze it and see if oil seeps out. If so replace the sending unit. It looks kind of like a spark plug screwed into the block.

Near the oil filter you will see the power steering pump mounted to the side of the pulley end of the engine and it is over the right CV drive axle and has several hoses connected. One larger hose is a none pressure hose that gravity feeds the pump from the fluid reservoir mounted above it on the passenger side wheel well in the engine bay. This hose eventually leaks and drips power steering fluid everywhere! It is a molded hose from the dealer parts dept. and relatively easy to replace. Messy but do-able.

Now the top side of the engine. The valve cover has a rubber gasket that shrinks over time in that hot engine bay. Take a Phillips head screw driver is see how loose the screws holding it are. Really loose hu? You can tighten them but you should replace it because it shrunk and that makes the screws loose.

You will need some silicone engine sealant each side of the distributor bridge at the driver's side of the cover. Get a manual to make sure you tighten those screws in the correct order.

Distributor "O"ring seal can leak. Two 12MM bolts to remove it and put a new "O"ring on and you are set. Mark the Distributor's position to the bridge bracket BEFORE you loosen those screws. Line it back up to the marks so you don't mess up the timing and reset the timing after is even better.

I have a 2002 1500 4X4 suburban it started with oil leak so a macanic took tranny out to put rear main seal new and everything back together now security light flashes and wont start

try one simple thing, reset the computer by disconnecting positive cable from battery for 10 mins.also make sure the crankshaft sensor is plugged back in,will not start without it.he may have missed it when removal of transmission.you may even have to reset the trucks computer, disconnect the positive cable from battery for 10mins.. this will accept any new products,i'm sure they had to unplug the 02 sensors to remove the transmission! this will help, is it getting fuel? if not,try fuel pump fuse,or relay. is it getting fire to plugs? if not, something is not plugged back in right. suggest you check under and on top of motor for a missed plug in. it was running when they replaced rear seal?go from there. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com chat support is available, phone support also.

How do you replace a seal on a Sta-Rite pool pump? How do you remove the old seal? Ceramic and graphite.

Replacing a shaft seal requires some good mechanical ability.
first, always make sure power is off at the breaker before you work.
You'll have to remove the band holding the wet end to the seal plate. Then remove the diffuser covering the impeller. Remove the cover on the back of the motor. You either need a 7/16 open end wrench or a armature tool to hold the motor shaft while you unthread the impeller (if the impeller has a screw in the middle, you will have to remove it by turning clockwise, left hand threads) counterclockwise. You can then pull the carbon part of the seal off of the impeller, make sure to remove all of it including the metal sleeve. You will then have to remove the seal plate and push the ceramic part out from the back. You can then clean and lube the seal plate and install the new ceramic part of the seal, try not to touch the ceramic with your hands if possible. You can then lightly lube the impeller shaft and slide the carbon part of the seal with the carbon facing toward the ceramic as you thread it on. If the seal plate had a copper heat sink, you can either replace it or use a different size seal. (I believe it's a PS-201) Re-install the seal plate, impeller (and screw if applicable) and diffuser. You should now be ready to mate the seal plate to the wet end. Make sure you fill the pump before you try starting it up, especially with a new (dry) seal.

Mate.If its a six cyl, motor the rear seal wasn't done right. Its a 2 part seal and you have to remove the sump to do it. The mechanic doesn't want to admit a stuffup. The most common cause is not the correct sealer when the new seal is installed. It has to be slid around and in with the bearing cap removed. This is on a 6 cyl.Hope this helps

I had a water leak at the pump on my hot tub so I removed the motor and pump assy for repair. I removed and disassembled the wet end and determined I needed a new seal and impeller. Here's where the fun...

Here is your owners manual.

You have the correct impeller part number and the seal is a standard replacement part.

Please contact us thru www.arrowpools.net for a quote on the exact price and freight charges. Before freight, your parts would be about $20.

I can not help you with a whole wet end at this time but the parts should be available within a few days time.

If pieces are missing or broken I would try and replace the piece. You can usually get these items cheap on Ebay.
