Question about Speed Queen Dryers

1 Answer

I have a Speed Queen model: HE7230L and it runs but will not heat. I could not find any reference to this model in your Q/A. I have checked the power breakers and they are fine. I assume it is the heating element or the thermal fuse. This is a very basic and older model. Do I follow the suggestions that are mentioned already or is there anything unique about this model that I should know. Many thanks.

The info the website gave me on accessing the SpeedQueen was wrong. I had to open the whole dryer and remove everything to access the heating element. It turned out to be alright. I discovered a short circuit in the system that caused the problem with the dryer. I appreciate your response, but did not find anything there that was new to the Q and A that addressed the situation. Thanks anyway. Maybe another time.

As you have read there are basic problem solving ways to trouble shoot this dryer. Checking the heating element, thermal fuse and thermostat should give your the problem. An OHM meter is required to make those tests and one of them can be purchased for 20-30 bucks at any Walmart and many other stores...
The thermostat and fuse will have full continuity if good and the heating element will have resistance but will pas a current through it. Also check the heating element for any places where the coil could be touching when cool but pull apart when heating. Check for any broken or rubbed through wires also...

Dryer will not heat up Does run

It's probably the thermostats that are normally attatched to the element or it could be the element itself. They are nprmally placed in the rear of the appliance.

The thermostats will only cost a few pounds.
