Question about Canon PowerShot S30 Digital Camera

4 Answers

Power problem My camera is dead even though it has a fully charged battery inside. You slide the cover back and nothing happens. We tried a different fully charged battery and still nothing. Any ideas? Have the Canon Powershot S30 since many years (some 6000 photos taken) but suddenly the camera is absolutely dead. The lens won't come out when sliding the lens door back, no pictures shown at the monitor when switching the viewing button to the right, no USB connection when connectiong to a PC using the USB cable. Have 2 batteries, both freshly loaded. Seems to be a problem with the main power switch (is this the very tiny one next to the battery clip that is supposed to swing back when the battery door is closed? Hw can I test what it is & then fix it? I'm not willing to invest a significant amount of money as it is only my fall-back camera at the moment. Any hints welcome. Mike

HI,

Try taking out your batteries and then taking out your memory card. Put back in batteries. Turn on camera.

If this works, just put back in your memory card and try again. Sometimes the memory card hangs and you need to pop it in and out.

It can also be that the battery contacts are dirty. So try cleaning it with the cloth and then try inserting the battery

remove the battery then press and hold on the power button for at least
10 seconds. Then replace the battery and turn on. This is a hardware
reset that can be done on most electronics.
You can also try this out too:
take battery out of camera also memory card as well and wait for
half min then click photo button twice without battery or memory then
replace battery or recharge full battery ..

Camera will not power up, no lights no beeps nothing, the battery is fully charged and I have replaced the CMAOS battery

Is this an older camera? Is the battery the original? Has it been unused for a lengthy period of time and allowed to completely discharge? It may be dead even though it registers charged in the charger. Clean the battery contacts in the camera with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

Canon 400d will not switch on

it might be a problem with the battery connectors.
They might not touch the battery well.
another reason, it might be the battery is dead or the power button is not working.

My Cannon G9 digital camera wont power up even though I have a fully charged battery?

This is usually from a loose screw inside the camera, a screw inside the camera can come loose and cause a short which is very common on the G9. If you go to: www.camerasandparts.com all they deal with is service for the Canon Powershots. They're great if you need a hand with one of these and they automatically do the no power correction on the G7's and the G9's they service which is nice. They are about the least expensive out there at $89 and they include the service and the shipping back. The best part, they do excellent work which is a must for me. Hope that helps you some.

Dead batteries when fully charged

Does it work with "no batteries" - only plugged into power source? check your usb cable by trying to power up something else.

The battery is removable and the camera came with a charger that you connect the battery to and plug into a household socket.

Power problem

Oddly enough, as I was looking at this thread, I was fiddling with the camera and it decided to turn on when I opened the lens cover. Obvoiusly, 2 minutes earlier, it wouldn't come on, as that was why I looking at the forum!
sorry, I don't have a solution, but I suspect there's an issue with the contacts in the lens cover. Every moving part will have an Achille's Heel, I suppose.
