Question about Yahoo Mail

1 Answer

My yahoo password has not been working since early September. All I get from Yahoo are "cookie cutter" emails telling me to sign-in with my password and change to a new password or if I am not able to do that to reply to their email while providing them with information. I have done this twice...the last time was on 9/19. I have not heard anything. At this point all I want to do is get some saved emails, contacts I hadn't moved to my new email account and close out Yahoo forever. How can I do this?

Did you register for a backup Yahoo ID in case you lost your password? If so, you can request for a password reset, and the new link will be sent to your backup ID.

Yes I did. I asked for a password reset and all I received was another copy of the "we'll get contact you within 48 hours" email. I guess what I need now is a phone number to call a human. Thank you for your suggestion.

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Temporary error: 14

That's a temporary error as far as I can tell. Temporary errors can be caused by browsers that are not supported by Yahoo! Mail. Please ensure that you are using one of the following browsers and operating systems:

Windows XP, Vista, and 7:
  • Internet Explorer 8.0 and newer
  • Firefox version 3.5 and newer
  • Safari version 4.0 and newer
  • Google Chrome version 5 and newer
Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5, and 10.6:
  • Firefox version 3.5 and newer
  • Safari version 4.0 and newer
  • Google Chrome version 5 and newer

you can try these troubleshooting steps:
  1. Refresh your browser and retry accessing your Yahoo! Mail account. If this does not work, please proceed to next step.
  2. Log out of your Yahoo! Mail.
  3. Clear your internet browser's cache and cookies.
  4. Close or disable all other programs and browsers running Yahoo! Mail (for example, if you have your Mail open on your mobile phone, log out there.)
  5. Close and restart your web browser.
  6. Log on to your Yahoo! Mail.

Why do I have to sign in every time I open my Yahoo mail. It no longer opens without having to sign in every time.

  • Make sure Keep me signed in for 2 weeks unless I sign out. is checked when you log in to Yahoo! Mail.
  • Do not click Sign Out at the top of any Yahoo! page.
  • Make sure your Yahoo! account's Prompt for Password setting is Every 2 weeks:
    • Go to your Yahoo! account info.
    • Follow the Edit link under Member Information.
    • Make sure Every 2 Weeks is selected under Prompt for Password:.
    • Click Finished.
  • Do not clear your browser cookies manually.
  • Make sure your browser does not delete cookies when you shut it down.
  • Set browser extensions and anti-spyware software not to clear cookies or to exclude cookies from the "yahoo.com" domain.

Make sure cookies are enabled and accepted for Yahoo. Also remember that each time you clear your cookies, your session is reset.

    Can't access e-mail

You need to do a google search for 'Yahoo Mail Error UDB:1'

Then the first result is a 'yahoo answers' question someone asked, the answer there solves it.

You have to delete the yahoo cookie from your browser.

I use firefox, so you go to Tools>Options>Privacy> button 'show cookies' delete yahoo cookie.

Go back to yahoo login page. Username and password.. and it will fix it.

    I had the same problem.

It is called a UDB 1 error, often happens right after you change your password.

It's ******* pathetic. You can write an email from ANOTHER account to yahoo customer service for some slow, unreliable help though.
