Can I wire two 8 ohm cabinets in bridge mode.That is, one wire from output of amp but tie the two 8 ohm cabinets together?

OK what you are saying now is that your speakers are dual voice coil; models? 4 Ohms per Coil? I have always used single 4 Ohm Voice ciol speakers since amps are mostly based on 4 Ohm outputs. but you can get 8 Ohm dual voice coil subs also. With 8 Ohms per coil you can get 4 Ohms if you parallel the wires. What is best for you and will get you the most stable power and still will be in the specs of that amp is to run the amp in BRIDGED MODE running each subs voice coils in series with each other then run those 2 subs in parallel to the amplifier giving it a 4 Ohm load. So, your will have two sets of wires from your amp 1 for each speaker. Then you will take a short piece of wire that will connect the + to the - of each voice coil then hook up the wires from your amp to each sub What it will be is 4 Ohms + 4 Ohms = 8 Ohms per speaker the 8 Ohms in parallel each speaker to the Bridged amp output using just the + from one channel and the - from the other will give you a total of 4 ohms and power out put of 600 Watts so that ends up being 150 watts per voice coil or 300 watts each speaker

How do you change from 4 to 8 ohm output on a phonic 1860 mixer


Stereo and bridged mode selects automatically. Stereo mode gives 4-16 ohms per side. Bridged mode is only from 8-16 ohms. This impedance match is created by the combination of speakers you use. If you link any speakers, the wiring is usually going to be in parallel because of the sockets wiring in the cabs. Any time you link 2 speakers in parallel, it cuts the impedance in half. Remember that in bridged mode, do not link 2 8 ohm sets together because this will create a 4 ohm circuit which it will not allow. This can only be done in stereo mode. It is ok to use speaker combinations of higher impedance, but never go lower as it would cause damage to the power amp.

impedance output and is optimized for no
lower than four-Ohm loads. Are you strapping in Bridged or Stereo Mode? Bridged Mono Operation
Both amplifier channels can be bridged together to make a very powerful single-channel monaural amplifier. Use
extreme caution when operating in the bridged mode; potentially lethal voltage may be present at the output
terminals. To bridge the amplifier, depress the rear panel Bridge switch to the IN position. Direct the signal to channel
A's input and connect the speakers across the hot outputs (the "+" binding posts) of channels A and B. Only channel
A's input attenuator is active while in Bridge Mono mode. Both connectors are strapped together, so either connector
can be used with a patch cable to drive the input of another amplifier.
Unlike the stereo mode, in which one side of each output is at ground, both sides are hot in bridged mode. Channel A's
side is the same polarity as its input with the minimum nominal load impedance being 4 ohms (equivalent to driving
both channels at 2 ohms) in bridged mode. Driving bridged loads of less than 4 ohms will activate the DDT
circuitry, resulting in a loss of power, and may also cause a thermal (overheating) overload.
Therefore, check the impedance of the cabs for each mode. Remember, if you connect two individual speakers in Parallel (+ to + and - to -) you cut the impedance in half. Two 8 ohm speakers in parallel now have a load of 4 ohms. Series connection + to - to + to -, will double the impedance. Two 8 ohm speakers will have a load of 16 ohms.
I have actually taken a two speaker cab with a 4 ohm impedance and opened up the back to re-do the wiring. I rechecked the impedance with a ohm meter. So yes, be careful. Whatever you do, keep the speaker lengths as short as possible. Buy really good speaker wire or if you make your own, go with 10 gauge wire.

How do you switch the behringer 3000 to bridged mode,what settings do you use to get 1200 watts out of it.


Well... you probably won't like this, but here is some info: In bridged mode, a different Speakon to speaker cable is required from only the B... it is wired differently and you can only use one of the plugs. The speaker or speaker system CANNOT be less than 8 ohms in bridged mode... this precludes using speakers in parallel or multiple speakers that are less than 16 ohm impedance... such speakers are NOT commonly available as most are either 4 or 8 ohm. There is a slide switch for bridged mode on the face of the mixer. Next thing you won't like... The 1200 Watts specification is PEAK power, NOT RMS... You can get 400 watts RMS per side USING 4 ohm speakers. If you use 8 ohm speakers, each of those will get 200 watts. I use this mixer myself and ALSO repair them. The voltage swing at the outputs is about +/-60 volts MAX (peak). This is about 40 volts RMS by the time the circuit LOSSES are taken into account. Across a 4 ohm speaker you get 10 amps times the 40 volts or 400 watts. Across an 8 ohm you get 5 amps or 200 watts. The voltage rails in the switching amp are +/-70 volts DC so these are reasonable values. Bridged mode just uses both sides of the amp driven in opposite directions for higher voltage out BUT you have to use no less than a single 8 ohm speaker so there is NO advantage to bridged mode power wise. IF YOU NEED more power, use extra speakers from an additonal amp driven by the 1/4 TRS mains output jacks OR use additonal POWERED speakers driven from the same jacks. Please read my tip about the hazard regarding the SLEEVE of the cahnnel A cable when using Speakon to 1/4 plug cables being the HOT and the tip being the cold for channel A. NO dont tie the inputs. Inputs stay just as they are. Outputs are where the bridging happens.
You amp specs are:
XM-9696 C/W 4 CHANNEL POWER CHROME/WHITE AMPLIFIER
MAX OUTPUT POWER (2 OHM): 200W X 4 = 800W
POWER OUTPUT: 90W X 4 @2 OHM (360W) LESS THAN 0.5% THD
60W X 4 @4 OHM (240W) LESS THAN 0.3% THD
BRIDGED 180W X 2CH @4 OHM

So lets take 800 watts and divide by 13Volts DC = 61.54 Amps
So if there are 2 fuses start with 30 amp. To play it safe you could use 25 amps and if they blow try a 30. Now if the 30 blows you may need to take
another look at your wiring. I think 30 will be fine though.

I have 2 12'' subs 1300.watts and 2 1200watts amps both bridge to push 2400.00watts do not sound lond enoungh


impedance mismatch cud be the culprit. make sure ur speakers are the right ohms for ur amp. most amps are designed to operate on a 4 ohms speaker load on bridge mode. some amps are never designed for bridge mode. so if u bridge these amps u will get less output. u have to be very careful when u make the connections. plus when u bridge two amps for 4 ohms load, the total impedance becomes 8 ohms. make sure ur speakers are 8 ohms. few ohms can make big difference on power amps.

Hello again jm129852,

Having two power and ground terminals allows you to run two smaller wires instead of one big one. It's a convenience. No, you do not have to use them both. They are connected together inside. Yes, you should still use a single fused battery lead. Connect the big wire and fuse holder to the battery and to a distribution block and run the smaller wires from the output side of the distribution block.

When you connect the outputs of a two channel amp to two separate speakers, each speaker gets the power produced by it's channel only. If you are using only one speaker, and the amp is rated to operate bridged, then the speaker will receive the power from both channels, typically twice as much. You do need to be careful when using bridged mode because many amps will only operate safely at a higher impedance when bridged. For example, when operated with both channels connected to separate speakers (not bridged), it may be stable to 2 ohms. But when you connect both channels together (bridged), it is only stable to 4 ohms. Usually, the specifications will tell you the lowest impedance at which the amp should be operated. The specifications for the current RF Punch 500.2 are like this: 125 watts X 2 at 4 ohms; 250 watts X 2 at 2 ohms; 500 watts X 1 bridged at 4 ohms (4 ohm stable in bridged mode). You would NOT want to connect two 4 ohm subs in parallel to this amp in bridged mode. It would result in a final 2 ohm load and the amp would overheat and fail. One 4 ohm sub would be OK, and it would receive the full 500 watts as stated in the specifications. You could connect four 4 ohm subs, two each in parallel to each channel, and the 2 ohm loads on each channel would be OK. Or you could series two of them together for an 8 ohm load, do the same with the other two, and then parallel the two 8 ohm loads for a final impedance of 4 ohms and connect them into the bridged terminals. With DVC subs the connection possibilities get more complex. There are many good impedance calculators online that can help you determine the best wiring solution for various amp/sub combinations. I like the one above at the12v.com web site. Rockford-Fosgate also has one which allow you to select the a number of subs (up to 4), their voice coil configuration (single or dual), and the voice coil impedance. The RF calculator then shows you what configurations are available and what your final load impedance will be.

    The specs I read on the Pioneer site say the amp is not 1 ohm stable, so keep that in mind.

    It partially depends on the impedance of each voice coil on the DVC subs. If they are dual 4 ohm, and you connect the DVCs in parallel ("+"s together, "-"s together), you could run a sub on each channel of the amp(s). This would put about 200W on each sub.

    The other option is to still tie the dual 4 ohm voice coils in parallel, tie 2 subs in series (one "+" to the other "-"), and bridge the two channels of the amp (aka put them in parallel). But this, also, would be about 200W on each sub.

    Things get different if the subs have dual 2 ohm, 3 ohm, or 8 ohm voice coils.
