The second hand is not moving

Hi,

I have a Citizen 8700 BL8000 54L watch. I noticed that since last weekend the second hand of my watchis stuck and is not moving in normal mode. It seems that the hand itself can move (for example, when I am setting up time, the hand is reset to 6 o'clock position automatically). I hope this is not due to any serious problem. (I am sure I have not dropped the watch or bumpped it anywhere).

Any Help please?

Thanks,

Make sure your mode is on time and not calender. if on calendar it sticks on the present month and does not move.

Are you sure the big second hand is not used for the chronograph? I once had a watch that did exactly that. There was a small second hand in the lower left which was the normal secondhand, while the big second hand was used only for the chronograph. It annoyed the cr*p out of me, so I always had the chronograph running, just so the second hand would move.

I have the same problem with my watch. The second hand
tends to stop even if it's not dim. Leave the watch outside
in bright sun for several hours. I've found that this will charge the watch so that afterwards,
the second hand will work even inside (well, not all the time,
but if it's fairly bright).

but is there anyone from this website going to answer this problem.

lots of people are facing this issue, help us with the solution. This is not a technical problem.

I pressed the buttons in my Guess watch when it was new and the second hand stopped. I tried all options to turn it on, no go

I always had the chronograph running, just so the second hand would move.

Swatch diaphane second hand stuck

Hello, a week ago the small second hand (not long chrono second hand) got stucked and my irony swatch just stop moving. Although the chronometer could be running if started... The small hand just didn't move.
I tried different tricks, like removing battery, pull out main wheel and use chrono buttons to reset arms. Etc.
Today I noticed that when turning the wheel backwards a couple of times (one or two hours back) the little hand moved one second back... Pushing wheel back to On possition made the small hand move forward one second and get stucked again.
Then I did this procedure a couple of times, at some point I turned the wheel back for a while (may be 5 full turns) and noticed the small hand moved more than one second (5, 10, 15 seconds backward)... when I noticed it was moving freely I pushed wheel to on position and noticed the small second hand was running normal.. I hope it works for some of you. Greettings from Canada

How do you know witch setting to make on the leap year adjustment on the Citizen Calibre 8700 model. +1, +2, +3...?

On Leap Years, the function dial is to be set to '0'.
Add one for each year after...
So, for 2011, set the function dial to '3' since it has been 3 years since 2008, the last leap year. Next year it should move/be set to '0' again since 2012 is a leap year.

I need to know how to set my 8700 calibre watch

Hi,here is a solution to help you out:
1. Pull the crown out one click.
A. Turn dial until function hand rests on "CAL"
2. Pull dial out one more click (should be all the way out)
A. hold down button "A" (top button) until the second hand completes one counter clockwise rotation (should be pointing at current month)
B. Press "A" button a second time and the Day/Leap year hand will move.
3. At this point spin the crown either backwards or forwards and watch as the Day/Leap year hand spins clockwise or counter-clockwise. The Date will adjust per each revolution.

However,you still have every reason to own the manual of your wrist watch for future references,so follow the link below to download the manual of your wrist watch;
http://www.citizenwatch.com/COA/English/settings.asp

There are so many aplications use of the manual will be manditory.

Use the numbers on the back of your watch and you will have a PDF version of your instruction manual.

Thanks and take care

I own a Citizen Eco Drive Calibre 8700 Blue dial Romen letters. I have not used it for very long time (6 months). Now when exposed to light only the second hand works but the minute hand and hour hand do...

If your watch was not stored where it could have light shining on it the LI battery would drain completely. There is a possible solution although it does not work all the time. It depends on how badly the battery has been allowed to drain.

Setup a lamp that will shine on a counter 24 hours a day and set your watch there. It helps if the lamp is about 1.5 - 2 feet above the watch. A 60 watt incand. lamp will work fine.

Leave your watch under this lamp for 3 - 4 days 24 hours a day. This will supply the solar cells with enough energy to recharge the battery and get it working again. If after this time it is still not working then the battery is just not going to accept a charge again or there is something else wrong that a watchmaker is going to have to fix for you.

Hope this helps.
