The idler pull must have fallen out of its place which is directly below drum on bottom of machine. A diagram can be found on most parts suppliers web page, enter model and model #.

Idler pulley bracket where can I buy one or is there an alternative to it

you need to post year, make, model and what engine?
also which idler pulley? I'm guessing you're probably looking at the accessories drive belt ("fan belt") idler pulley bracket.
Is this a serpentine belt.
a lot of cars use Idler and or tensioner pulleys on the timing belt/chain. the Idlers often don't have brackets
why are you replacing the bracket? did you break it? or do you just need the pulley? I normally replace both pulleys (idler and tensioner) when replacing either one.
anyways.. need a lot more info to answer your question

Replace v-ribbed belt

Use a long wrench on the tensioner pully nut (located in the center of the pulley) Move the wrench to removed tension from the idler (this is spring loaded to maintain constant pressure on the belt) once that is done, the belt should be able to slid off the alternator pulley. With the belt removed from the pulleys, you will have to remove the engine mount bracket to be able to replace it. To do this first support the engine, then remove the bracket. You will then be able to remove the serpentine belt. Look under the hood for the belt routing diagram and re-install the belt, followed by the engine mount.

I'm trying to do some work on my DR Trimmer and Mower. I need to know the configuration for putting a belt back on and how to adjust the cable that activates the mower head

The DR Trimmer/Mower V-belt (1/2” x 45” 4L450) loops around the Trimmer Head pulley and the engine pulley. The V seats into the pulley grooves and the flat side faces out.

On older models there is a stationary idler pulley near the front of the trimmer which remains inside the belt loop. Another smaller pivoting idler pulley sits further back near the engine pulley and rides on the outside (flat side) of the belt loop. This is attached to the clutch cable which can be adjusted to apply more or less tension to the belt.

To adjust the clutch cable on older models, follow it down to where it mounts to the Trimmer frame with lock nuts. Loosen those lock nuts and move the cable in small increments forward for more belt slack or backwards for more belt tension, tightening up the lock nuts when you find the proper position.

If you have a newer model, the trimmer won’t have the stationary idler pulley, it will have a twin idler pulley that pivots on a bracket and is attached to the clutch cable. The belt loops to the outside of the first idler pulley and to the inside of the 2nd idler pulley (pulley is inside belt loop). Be sure the belt retainer brackets don’t rub against the belt when it is engaged.

The Clutch Cable adjustment is the same procedure except that the adjuster is mounted to a bracket on the handlebars with lock nuts.

You may download the DR Trimmer manuals for more detailed information at the following web link:

Need help with my whirlpool dyer a white wheel came off dont know were it goes

The small white plastic white wheel goes to the idler pulley. It is located to the left of the burner assembly on the bottom cabinet behind the blower fan assembly. This is what keeps the belt tightly around the drum. There is an excellent illustration of this at pcappliancerepair.com. Just type in your model number and look for item 13 under the "Cabinet Parts" heading. The idler pulley attaches to the idler bracket (item 39).

There should be a small triangle shaped retaining clip that keeps the pulley in place on the shaft. It is known as a "tri-clip". If the clip has broken off, you can purchase replacements at pcappliancerepair.com for about $3. The part number is 690997. There is also a thrust washer on the idler shaft. The part number 233520. Make sure it is still in place.

If the pulley needs replaced, the part number is 279640 and it comes with the thrust washer and tri-clip retainers for about $14.

To access, remove the toe panel directly below the door and remove the air blower assembly cover. Make sure you UNPLUG the dryer while servicing the cabinet interior. Dangerous voltage is still present while the unit is turned off. You should be able to reach behind the drive motor and find the spring activated idler bracket. The wheel mounts on the back side of it with the thrust washer installed first, and the tri-clip inserted last. Refer to the parts drawing for details.

NOTE: Without the tension on the belt, the idler bracket will trip a small switch that prevents the drive motor from running. This is known as a "broken belt switch" that keeps a broken belt from wrapping around the motor shaft and burning. So, if your dryer is running, this is why. You should be able to hear the switch toggle as you move the idler bracket up and down.

For details on how to reinstall your dryer belt, go to repairclinic.com and click on the "Repair Help" link. On the following page, click on the "Dryer Belt Diagrams" link under the "Special Features" section. Locate the Whirlpool dryer belt link and refer to diagram K.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Belt broke on Maytag dryer DE410. I purchased a

The squeak may be coming from the drum rollers, check them to see if they need lubrication.
I recommend that you use a good grade of machine oil to lube them such as 3 in One oil. Lube them at the shaft of the roller. Also check the rollers to see if they have flat spots on them, if they do then they will need to be replaced.
Recheck your location of the idler arm bracket with pulley to see that you have it in the right location and that the spring is also in the right location. Look for wear spots on the frame and idler arm and match them up.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

Ineed to replace the serpintine belt, mine shreded, went and purchased replacement from lordco auto parts, could not seem to get belt to tighten up could you please advise the correct belt part # as well...

There is a idler wheel that has a bolt that when loosened will cause it to spring back. As you lay under the car with your feet first inward ( looking straight up from under vehicle snake the belt through and over the pulleys then pry back with a long pry bar the idler pulley lever after loosening bolt on wheel or lever as you put the belt over the pulleys. I have done this belt on a 1999 528 i it is a unpleasant job without a diagram showing the serpentine pulley arrangement, there is a second idler pulley located slightly higher than the release locking idler pulley don't confuse the two, I would advise aquiring a serpentine belt diagram (cd repair manual on ebay motors) unless you are confident you can figure it out through trial and error.

MTD Lawn Tractor: Constantly shredding deck belt...

I have the exact same model MTD tractor with same problem. It began when the bolt that extends through the idler arm assembly broke and subsequently damaged the pulley. Upon examination of the broken bolt, I found that the threaded end that extends below the deck is significantly smaller that the rest of the bolt. I got a larger bolt with the same size threads, bored out the hole through the deck and it made the whole idler assembly much stronger. the deck still has some vibration and some unusual belt harmonics, but it appears to be working. Compared to most other tractors of this size, this deck is very complicated.

Replacing a serpentine belt

Don't have a chart, video, or diagram available at the moment. Can offer you generic advice.

1.Somewhere in the middle of that serpentine belt, that is wrapped around all those pulleys, is an Idler tensioner Pulley. All this pulley does, is put tension on that serpentine belt. Usually located somewhere in the middle.

The Idler tensioner Pulley will be on a bracket. It will be on the end of the bracket. The bracket usually has a 1/2 inch square hole in it. This is used for a tool, that resembles a 1/2 inch breaker bar.
-> I, use a 1/2 inch breaker bar.
The 1/2 inch breaker bar is inserted into this square hole, and the bracket is pulled to one side.
This pulls the tensioner pulley away from the serpentine belt, allowing the belt to have slack, and then the belt is slipped off of one of those pulleys. Release the pressure slowly, remove the tool. Then the serpentine belt is removed all the way.

(The Idler tensioner pulley bracket, can only be moved in one direction, to take pressure off of the serpentine belt. The direction opposite, of it putting pressure on the serpentine belt.

The spring used to put pressure is Very strong. This is also an area, where you can easily slip, cutting your knuckles, or fingers, or hand, on sharp objects. Use caution, you may want to wear a glove, or gloves!)

Then the new serpentine belt is wound around the pulleys in the correct pattern, the Idler Tensioner Pulley is once again pulled to the side, and the last of the serpentine belt is slid into place. Then you slowly release the tensioner pulley, and it puts pressure on the serpentine belt once more.

Make sure the serpentine belt is in the grooves of the pulleys, and is wound around in the correct pattern.

On the car hood inside, or on the radiator support, or perhaps on the inner fender well, or in the Owners Manual, it should show the correct pattern for installing the serpentine belt.

To replace a worn belt, locate the idler or generator pulley.

0900823d8004ed45.jpg

Loosen the hold-down fastener for the idler or generator pulley.

0900823d8004ed46.jpg

Pry the idler or generator pulley inward to release the belt tension and remove the belt.

0900823d8004ed47.jpg

Match the old belt up for size with the new replacement belt.

0900823d8004ed48.jpg

Observe the belt routing diagram in the engine compartment.

0900823d8004ed49.jpg

Install the new belt over each of the drive pulleys. Often the manufacturer recommends a sequence for feeding the belt around the pulleys.

Pry out the idler or generator pulley to put tension on the belt.
Pry out the idler or generator pulley to put tension on the belt.

0900823d8004ed74.jpg

Install the belt squarely in the grooves of each pulley.

0900823d8004ed75.jpg

Before adjusting belt tension, check for proper pulley alignment. This is especially critical with serpentine belts. Measure the belt deflection in its longest span. If a belt tension gauge is available, use it and compare the tension to specifications.
If a belt is too tight, wear to bearings for the water pump, alternator, and engine crankshaft can result.
Some late-model Chrysler engines require a torque reading to be taken when tension is applied to the generator drive belt. This is especially important on the longer, multiribbed V-belts.

0900823d8004ed76.jpg

Pry the idler or generator pulley to adjust the belt to specifications.

0900823d8004ed77.jpg

Tighten the idler or generator pulley fastener.

0900823d8004ed78.jpg

Start the engine and check the belt for proper operation.

Any more questions please ask. Good luck.
