My PC will not boot up. I can't boot from my CD/DVD either. I've tried. What happened was I didn't have any sercurity & I believe spyware got on there & tried to get me to buy it but I wouldn't so then *** sites started opening & it would go crazy. Then nothing just a blank screen & just the mouse would be there. Now it just goes to a error screen. I bought some software which was suppose to fix it all but my DVD will not work. Please help me haven't had this harddrive that long. Thanks, Shirley

First is to try and boot into safe mode, Reboot and as the computer starts up, press F8 key like you are trying to get the computers attn. If you can get in to safe mode your cd/dvd should work. If it will not boot into safe mode, it might be best to take the computer to a tech to fix.

First boot of Win 7. New PC build

Hi.

First of all when you are in the BIOS and have set the DVD/CD drive as the first boot device make sure you save the settings before you restart the computer as it will not remember the changes if you don't.

Make sure that the lens on the CD/DVD drive is clean and also make sure the Windows 7 install disk is clean and free of any finger prints.

make sure that you keep tapping a key when the drive spins up as sometimes people miss the "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD" message.

If you still can't get the disk to boot then try the install disk in a working PC and see if that reads the disk. If it does then the optical drive could be faulty or does not support DVD format.

Regards.

Try re-burning a new copy of that bootable CD. It's possible the Bootable CD didn't burn correctly or maybe the image is bad.

PC will not boot, BOOTMGR is missing. What do I need to do?

I assume it's Windows 7.
Check that the BIOS is set to boot from CD/DVD as the first boot device and then put the Windows installation disk into the drive. If done correctly then the PC should boot from the CD/DVD and then just follow the on screen instructions (follow the instructions and select the repair option).

MY EMACHINE DESKTOP RECOVERY CD DOENT WORK

Hello
When booting up pc have you held the delete key or f2 key down to bring up the boot menu?Should be a option of cd dvd or hdd to boot first.

You want the cd dvd boot option on top or first.tThen reboot pc.
When asked hit any key to boot from cd, hit a key.Should start install.

If youve done this, clean the dvd or cd install disc with some windex and a paper towell, try again.

You can also do a system restore from control panel recovery option.

How can I force a cd boot on a toshiba satellte A135-S4477

You need to hit the function key on reboot that takes you to the BIOS settings. In the BIOS settings there will be an option to change the boot order. Make sure the CD is the first device to boot from. If the machine fails to boot from CD after this, then either the CD-ROM in the device is not a bootable CD ... or the drive may have issues.

Cheers!

HP DV6000 cd/dvd ejecting

For the first issue, the cause can be a Spyware or Hardware.
To come to a conclusion, if the Tray of the DVD Drive ejects immideatly after you close the Tray and remove your finger from it, the issue is with the Holding machanism of the Drive.
Also, try checking the status of the Drive tray in BIOS by followint the steps below :
Start the Notebook and start tapping the F10 key immideatly after the HP logo appears which will take you to the BIOS Setup window.
If the tray of the DVD Drive ejects repeatedly even in the BIOS, the issue is with the Drive hardware and needs a replacement.
However, if the tray of the DVD Drive ejects after some gap after booting into the Operating System and not immideatly it is closed, the issue can be with infection of Spyware in the Notebook.
In this situation, you need to scan the Notebook for spyware using Antispyware applications like Spybot from the link below :
http://spybot-download.net/spybotsd162.exe

Download and install the application and make sure that the application is updated by connecting the Notebook to Internet and scan for Spyware.
Clean any Spyware entries that are found in the Notebook.
Hope this will be helpful......
