The fault can be a faulty defrost timer which is not performing the scheduled defrosting and allowing the frost to form up.
So check this out and see if the timer triggers the heaters to defrost off the frost when it switches on.
Since the fridge is working otherwise fine this can be the only reason.

Hi,
There will be an heating element present in the evaporator coil which defrosts it often. It defrost it 4 to 5 times a day.Check this heating element. This may be damaged and it is not heating up.
Thank You

Is there a work around for installing a new Temp Control circuit board in a GE Refrigerator Model # PSS27NGMA WW. Orig bd has 3 connectors and new bd only has 2 connectors. I am attempting to replace...

I have a feeling that the temperature control board is not the problem. The fresh food compartment has two thermistors that relay information to motherboard through your control panel. If thermistor is bad or covered by an item it will continue to cool and freeze fresh food. Your air damper between freezer and fresh food compartment may also be wide open. My freezer has dropped in temp to -6 and my refrigerator is rising in temp and only blowing minimal cool air. The fridge is less than one month old.

ck the back of the freezer / look for ice build up / if evap coil is blocked the fresh food side isnot getting cold air and the tempt of freezer is dropping . is sounds like a defrost problem caused by main board failure or heater / defrost themo . / fresh food will keep getting warmer and soon the freezer will also .. mm

DEFROST PROBLEM

you said a mouth full . any of the 3 would cause freeze up.. so make sure the inside fan (evap fan is working ) . if unit is newer one the control in side fresh food may be bad and the sensor in the freezer. if it does not sense tempt properly the compressor run time is too long causing freeze up . now some times new components fail so ck them . . clean the bottom coils . and make sure the bottom fan is cooling the coils .. mm

You say " all thermistors check fine " , how did you check them ? Did you check for the 5-8 DC volts at the main control board , for the thermistors ? Did you do the diagnostic check for the thermistors from the control panel ? I'm sure you know there are 5 thermistors , since the refrig has the dual evap . Possibly the # 5 is bad , since it is the freezer temp " controller " , yet if it tells the board it's not cold enough , it still sends refrigerant to the refrig evap . Since the refrig evap has 2 fan motors , can't remember if there is a damper there also . Maybe when the # 3 thermistor is satisfied , it only cuts the fans off , even though refrigerant is still going thru the refrig evap .

GE Side By Side not cooling on refridgerator side.

Look on the back panel inside the freezer for ice beginning to show. Most times when this happens the fresh food section is the first to notice. Your refrigerator has a control board on the back. If not defrosting the air flow to the fresh food section is greatly reduced. Let me know, Sea Breeze
